Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

This course is intriguing
The general condition of the course was pretty fair, even though one would prefer that the course be maintained more regularly. The greens were fast & a bit tricky since they largely devoid of breaks around the cups.
The layout with the endless ridges makes it difficult and unique. The tapestry and weaving up & down the landscape makes it truly special.
They need golfcarts, they have very few and the ones they have suck !
Ridgeview Ranch 2025
Need to work on the greens, some in pretty bad shape, otherwise course is a great value for the area.
I really like the course, but…
The course needs some TLC. Some of the greens are covered in crab grass. It makes me think of my first job as a kid. I worked on a golf course and one whole summer. I manually remove crab grass from greens using a knife. That’s what needs to happen here. I do really like the layout of the course. And the driving range has Top Tracer which is really cool.
Riverview Ranch
Got an early tee time for the 18th of April to play around with my father who I was visiting. Check in was a breeze and the staff was friendly. The mats at the driving range had seen better days. Front nine of the course was unusually muddy from not having any rain the night before. Only issue with the back nine was a bridge was under repair so once the hole was finished we had to back track to get to the next hole. The caused back ups on the following hole. Other than that, no issues. Price was reasonable especially for a weekend am tee time.
Carts are in bad shape
Carts worn out. Greens on front 9 were also bad. Decent public course but there are better kept ones
Not worth the time or money
Horrible conditions! This course needs a whole new revamp. Horrible fairways and horrible greens. Couldn’t even putt to the hole without it taking massive hops. This course should be priced at 25$.
Neglected grass
Worst I have ever seen this course. Fairways were were spotty w/ lots of brown dead grass and mud sections. Greens wee infused with Poana growth.
This course needs new greenskeeper and our management!
Maintenance
The first and fourteenth hole is under maintenance and you can’t even reach it to know knowledge since they’re repairing their bridges. If you get out early pace of play is great but the fairways are waterlogged. Need to punch them. Half the greens are weed infested so it can be tough. Hopefully the course gets better quick, wouldn’t hate to see a month or two shutdown to give it some time to heal.
Lots of course maintenance needed
Apparently the course is under going some repairs. First hole has a modified tee box, 14th hole is closed. 15th has a modified tee box.. the greens are so bumpy, you have to putt and hope it doesn’t bounce too far offline. Lots of opportunity for more maintenance here. I’ve played this course several times in the past and usually is a good go to, but not now.
Pab4/1 review
Fairways still very bumpy. Greens starting to be taken over with poa annua
Typical public course
Although it was cart path only due to the rain the previous night, you can tell the course is in bad shape. Several greens had "grass bumps" growing on them so the putt was unpredictable and lots of areas without grass. Maybe a $50 course....
