Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Decent Municipal Course
Haven't played course in about 15 years. Enjoy the layout and price, but a few improvements would help. Water jugs around the course, carts maintained a little better, and greens rolled.
It could be good if…
This course needs a serious update to its infrastructure and business management. The course itself is in decent condition and seems to be decently maintained… but thats not the only thing that makes a good course. The fact that in the state of Texas a course has zero water on the course available outdoors should genuinely be a health and safety hazard and be immediately addressed. Only offering water available for purchase by beverage cart that comes around once a round is a crime.
Good shape!
I've always liked RR, the layout is hilly, interesting routing and has some challenging and fun holes. But for a year plus now the course condition has been pretty iffy and definitely not worth a premium $$.
That's changed. The tees and fairways were lush, the greens--punched about 3-4 weeks ago, have grown back in and are in fact a little shaggy now. The bunkers have been redone and are actually sandy.
I'm digging the current condition and want to play it again soon, cause its in the best shape its been in quite some time.
Marshall might help
Twosome in front of me were two young men(high school or college). They drove cart to edge of green on every hole and drove in restricted areas the entire round. A marshall might be helpful to new or younger golfers to better understand golf etiquette.
Ridgeview Ranch - June 14, 2025
I like many things about this course, however the one thing I dislike will keep me from playing their regularly. It took five hours to play the round. The two groups in front of us had players that did not have the skill level for the course and when they hit into the woods took ten minutes before they gave up finding their ball. The greens still need a little of work, but they were punched three weeks ago, so I give it another week or two and a better job of cutting the green.
Pace of play
Was atrocious. No marshal. 3 groups waiting on every hole. Took 3 hours to play 9 holes. It’s not hard to run a golf course but apparently it is for some. Even had a friend come in town and this is what he got to experience. Too bad it’s all about the money and not about the enjoyment. Sad times in this world right now.
Fun times
Nice course, the greens had not healed from a recent aireration but they were still ok to putt.
Enjoyed my round with 3 other fellows that used gn.com as well. Will play again for sure.
Just struggling
Their carts are breaking down, if they have enough — had 2 foursomes waiting for our cart. Brakes were sketchy, one tire was low, and it was slow. Add-in black pleather seats in the Texas sun and it’s a less than stellar experience. Course in general is decent shape, and appears as though they handled the poa annua grass on the greens. They were really slow on Sunday, and needed to be rolled after punching them a couple weeks ago - really bumpy. The beverage cart was a gator that’s brakes didn’t work — poor girl had to find a perfectly flat spot and then turn wheels to keep it from rolling away from her: we tried to help as well, but the brakes wouldn’t hold.I keep pulling for this place, cause it’s a great layout and it’s close to home, but just doesn’t seem to keep it together for more than a month at a time.
Nearby course
Course isn’t overly difficult and has holes where you can shape shots. Fairways are for the most part green and able to take a divot but there are many areas with large ruts from water erosion that have not been fixed for over a year. Also the greens were recently aerated with no where near enough sand. Ball bounced and making putts was luck.
Aerated
The greens were aerated but otherwise the course condition was great.
Good day
Course layout is one of the best with challenging but fair paths to score. The only 2 things that were below par was beverage cart and greens were not healed from maintenance ( holes would divert putts trying to get it in the cup ).
Fun Course
Always a good test of golf and fun with friends. Even a day after aeration.
save your money
rude staff. smelly dirty club house bathroom. terrible course layout not going back
Fun challenge
Poa on some of the greens can make putting a challenge but the course overall is in good condition. Carts need a definite upgrade as ours could barely get past 5MPH. Permanent bathrooms on the course vs porta-potties would be a nice touch.
