About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Ridgeview Ranch
Unfortunately it looks like the Febuary freeze killed the greens. I would avoid playing here until the greens, tee boxes and fairways have had time to grow back. Love this course, can not wait for it to get back into playable shape.
Lost greens
The hard freeze in February must’ve completely destroyed the greens. Won’t go back until late summer, maybe they’ll have some grass. Sad to see the weather ruin this place, usually some of the nicest greens around.

Po Anna Problem!
Love this course layout, but right now the greens are so bumpy from being punched along with all the Po Anna (Sp?) grass bumps ALL OVER the greens. There is just no grass growing on these greens at all. There is also no walking rate, and no rate for juniors. Seems they could accommodate their customers better, especially with so many better options around. It will be a long while before I play here again.
Greens are horrible
Worst condition I’ve seen them since they were replaced about 10-12 years ago. I sure hope they get some water on them and they can be salvaged.. same story for almost every single green. Course needs some TLC
Tee Box
Tee boxes are bad, greens are in the worst shape ever... no marshals and pace of play is slow... picture is from the #16 tee boxe.
Overpriced
Course was way overpriced. Greens were terrible but expected with the freeze this winter. But for $70, way too much. Many of the holes don’t even have signs showing the hole layout or distance. Literally nothing. No scorecards either they expect you to download the app. No thanks. Would play again only if it was half the price. Would not otherwise.
What happened to this great muni??
Ridgeview Ranch used to be one of the best muni courses in DFW. Its now a goat farm. Awful condition, no marshals. Greens dead, fairways all weeds.

Very sad whats happened to this great coarse.
Pace of play was so slow.
5PLAYERS AHEAD OF US WERE TOO SLOW PLAYNG.
THE GREEN HAD A LOT OF GLASS FLOWERON THE EVERY HOLE.

5 PLUS HOURS!!!!!!!
Course layout was beautiful, course conditions were middle of the road except for greens, clumps of crab grass invaded the greens esp on the front 9. ( think putting on the moon)
Staff was a bit too friendly, very nice but refused to enforce pace of play even though they were aware of the problem. My round took 5 hours and 14 minutes!!!!!! Should have trusted the reputation that this course has a severe pace of play problem. Won’t be back til they properly address pace of play issues.
Greens are in bad shape and some of the tee boxes are in bad shape

A gem that’s dulled
This is my favorite public course in our area. I was very disappointed by the course conditions and the greens. We had to play the “two putt” rule b/c there just wasn’t any reason to line up and give it a go with all the weeds knocking the ball off line. It had been over a year since I’d been here and was very disappointed. I will give it SEVERAL months and try again.

Not best experience, but would play again
Greens were weedy but firm and fast. Course was full and play was slow. But it was a great day to golf (shot 37/37). Will play here again.
So so, not bad not great
The white tee boxes were very brown with little or non grass. Fairways OK. The greens need poa annua making the greens quite bumpy.
Still and all had a fun round with a couple of fine gentlemen. Will need to revisit after growing season comes around to be fair.
