About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Bad condition
Played this course several times in the past. My previous round (1 & 1/2 months ago) they punched the greens and pro shop never mentioned it to me. Today’s round the greens were horrible- like they never recovered. Recent weather required carts to stay on path and group behind us stated we might as well drive on the course because there were no marshals and “they obviously don’t care about the course - just look at the greens.” Observed several bare spots all over the course. Expected better
Bad greens
Second time playing course in month and a half. First round the greens were just punched and clubhouse said nothing about it. Played yesterday and greens were still in horrible shape. Not one green had a smooth surface. We had to stay on cart path during round but twosome behind us stated we might as well drive on course as you can tell they don’t care about the greens.
Greens?
Greens are in very poor condition and may take many months to repair. It's a shame because this course has a great layout and normally fun to play. I would take this course off your list until maybe Fall of 2021.
Poor greens
I have played this course a number of times and like to layout. Greens in worst shape I've seen. Could not recommend this course to anyone at this time.
Ridge view from a golfer prospective
This is a fun track Fairways are plenty wide .Distances perfect for your average golfer. Greens large enough to make your approach shots manageable .Scoring low is definitely available .Typical bunkers in Texas always could use more work.
Great practice facilities including a distance recording on the driving range

Overpriced
Greens were in terrible shape. Maybe due to the freeze we had a while back, but for the cost I expect better conditions.
Took a hit in the severe winter weather
Really like the course. The greens are a little rough right now due to the severe winter weather we had. I like the layout, and several holes are very pretty. Overall I really like the course.

Rough greens
I get we had a tough winter and just climbing out of. The course layout is great and love the undulations and opportunities for shot selection.
The greens were in rough shape. Hard to hit straight with all the pits.
Got to play golf with my son so hard to complain in grand scheme of things.

Played Texas for the first time.
Chose Ridgeview in Plano for my first ever golf round in the state. Weather was perfect, pace was great never waited at a tee box, played blue tees with a slope rating of 133. Cant wait to play again

Not bad but…
Course has always ranked as one of the top public courses around. However, weather seems to have caused it some harm. Course is a little wet and run down in certain places and greens have gotten beat up and have attracted poana. A little more care needs to be given to greens before it’s back to its old shape.
Greens in bad shape
I usually love this course. It’s a little more expensive than other public courses I play, so I only play here a few times a year. This last time was disappointing. The greens were filled with poa annua. The higher price and poor greens are a bad combination.

Over Sold
This course has a good layout, but it allows people to play in blue jeans and not having their own set of clubs to play with. Greens are in terrible condition and the course needs some serious TLC. So for what I paid, I feel I got duped. My son-in-law and I were disappointed overall.

Worst condition I’ve ever seen this course. They use to have some of the best greens around but now they have to be the worst in the metroplex. It will be a long time before I go back there.

Lost the Greens!
This used to be one of my favorite courses in the metroplex but over the past year the conditions have really deteriorated. The greens are absolutely gone, very bumpy, mostly weeds and sand now. Most of the tee boxes are dead and there are a lot of bad patches in the fairways. The bunkers are one of the few good areas left on the course. I don’t know if the February freeze caused permanent damage to the greens or not but I hope they can get them back. I am afraid they will have to scrape them and start over because they’re so far gone. Very sad.
