Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

So so muddy
This was my second time playing the course. It was in really rough shape. It appears that they don’t have any kind of drainage system off the greens. It was the morning after a light rain, and there was standing water in multiple spots on almost every hole. The saturated soil made iron and wedge shots extremely difficult.
Also, on the 9th fairway, there were dozens of range balls scattered everywhere. The range was closed when we were there and our tee time was 8:42am, so it appears the course has no procedure in place to clear range balls from the course.
I doubt we’ll be back. There are so many good options nearby.
The day I played it was massively slow pace of play ( Thursday) (actually skipped a hole)
Pretty much the worst driving range in the metroplex
No drinking water on the course or ball washers
The golf cart I had I wasn't sure if I was going to make it off the first tee and sputtered all day
Good shape Great round
Course is in very decent shape, nice easy round even when 5 or so different groups all seemingly Tee’d off back to back right around noon.
Golf now hot deals are becoming a joke, you click one go to book and they charge you and tell you the tee time is no longer available so then you’re in golf mode but can’t get the nice discount they show to bait you in. I ended up having to call customer service luckily the nice lady helped me actually book for the hot deals price. Figure it out GN, sheeessh
Muddy with no rain
I was surprised to find so much mud on the course considering it hasn't rained here for over a month - and not just a little mud, it was across the fairways on just about every hole, and 3-4 inches deep - even along the cart path by the driving range.
Since the conditions can't be blamed on the weather, it can only be caused by the ground crew not properly monitoring the irrigation, although I can't understand how they could waste so much water to make the course close to unplayable. The ruts in the fairways from the carts going through the mud we be there for quite some time.
I can't imagine what things will look like when we actual get some rain. Won't be back for a while since it will take a while for the course to recover.
Good time
Got a 7:34 tee time for 2 of us Finished in 3 1/2 hours! Only gripe is that the course appears to have over-watered in areas. It hasn't rained in a month, but our cart and ourselves were muddy by the end of the round. Still, good course, good time.
Slow Play
I’ve been wanting to play this course for some time now and it was a disappointing experience. The pace of play was brutal, 5 hours and 25 minutes. No water jugs anywhere on the golf course and it was a little warm yesterday. The golf carts are in horrible condition and need to be replaced or maintained better. The course was very muddy in lots of places, I’m assuming from the sprinklers. The entire place is in need of a good deal of maintenance.
Soaked Course
For having zero rain this whole month, the course was drenched and left areas unplayable. Sprinkler heads were just gushing water. I'll go back, but will make sure its fixed before I do.
Fix the irrigation problems
There should not be water running out of almost every sprinkler head!!!!!!!
Water in front of every green sucks for a bump and run.
Fix the on and off point of the bridge on hole 8.
Large holes in the rocks should be filled in with gravel.
Come on guys put in a little effort!!!
Need to control the flow of golfers
Need to have a starter. Lots of singles out there being held up by foursomes and unfriendly singles unwilling to join anyone!!!
Perfect course for First Time play!
When we showed up, there weren’t too many signs that directed us swear to go, but eventually, we found out where to go. Once inside we were greeted by the friendly staff. We were able to pay for our game, obtain our golf cart and be on our way. Courses were in great condition considering the weather recently. The fairways were nice. The greens were smooth. It was my first time ever playing golf and she did great.
Carts
The course conditions were the best I have seen from them this year. The golf carts are terrible. I was the passenger and had to get out of the cart so we could make it up a cart path hill. I could walk as fast as the cart would go. Exchanged carts after 9 and the second one wasn’t much better.
RE
Some of the concrete driving paths are extremely rough and somewhat dangerous and a few of the wooded bridges should be reviewed for safe transits.
Better shape than two years ago
Pros:
* Pro shop and starter were friendly
* Layout is always challenging with the potential for trouble on every hole
* Greens were in good shape. Two years ago they were the worst.
* Sand was in pretty good shape for a public course.
Meh:
* Still areas of the course where some grass would be helpful. Some areas have been like this for years.
Cons:
* No water on the course
* No ball washers (Covid was so 2020)
* Too much water run-off in front and sides of greens. Balls would catch in the muck if the ball landed in front of the green.
* Why do some players think they're too good to rake the bunker after themselves. This is for most local courses, not just Ridgeview.
This course is walkable although there are a couple of holes where the green to tee takes a couple of minutes, most notably 3-> 4, 9->10 and 10->11
