Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club

About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

Fix the irrigation problems
There should not be water running out of almost every sprinkler head!!!!!!!
Water in front of every green sucks for a bump and run.
Fix the on and off point of the bridge on hole 8.
Large holes in the rocks should be filled in with gravel.
Come on guys put in a little effort!!!
Need to control the flow of golfers
Need to have a starter. Lots of singles out there being held up by foursomes and unfriendly singles unwilling to join anyone!!!
Perfect course for First Time play!
When we showed up, there weren’t too many signs that directed us swear to go, but eventually, we found out where to go. Once inside we were greeted by the friendly staff. We were able to pay for our game, obtain our golf cart and be on our way. Courses were in great condition considering the weather recently. The fairways were nice. The greens were smooth. It was my first time ever playing golf and she did great.
Carts
The course conditions were the best I have seen from them this year. The golf carts are terrible. I was the passenger and had to get out of the cart so we could make it up a cart path hill. I could walk as fast as the cart would go. Exchanged carts after 9 and the second one wasn’t much better.
RE
Some of the concrete driving paths are extremely rough and somewhat dangerous and a few of the wooded bridges should be reviewed for safe transits.
Better shape than two years ago
Pros:
* Pro shop and starter were friendly
* Layout is always challenging with the potential for trouble on every hole
* Greens were in good shape. Two years ago they were the worst.
* Sand was in pretty good shape for a public course.
Meh:
* Still areas of the course where some grass would be helpful. Some areas have been like this for years.
Cons:
* No water on the course
* No ball washers (Covid was so 2020)
* Too much water run-off in front and sides of greens. Balls would catch in the muck if the ball landed in front of the green.
* Why do some players think they're too good to rake the bunker after themselves. This is for most local courses, not just Ridgeview.
This course is walkable although there are a couple of holes where the green to tee takes a couple of minutes, most notably 3-> 4, 9->10 and 10->11
One of it’s kind
Westridge is the only course I know of that has six of each, par threes, par fours, and par fives. Course is in excellent condition, and the remodel turned out awesome!
Pretty fun course
I got a round in on a business trip to Plano. The course is fairly maintained, not very many dead spots in the fairways. The bunker I got in had very fine white sand which had been manicured recently. A LOT of ungulation, several times my drive would land out of my line of sight on the fairway due to the rolling hills. Greens were excellent no visible divot marks and rolled pretty fast.
Greens in fantastic fall condition. Very smooth and firm!
Love my favorite local course. I usually team up with another golfer or group. Always meet nice friendly people that, like me, enjoy the greatest game ever played!
Greens are much better
I have played this course a lot over the years and the greens are greatly improved and would give them a 9 out of 10. Keep up the good work
Good value
Love playing here, always in good shape recently priced. Need to have drinking water on the course, bathrooms, and return the ball washers on every Teebox.
Don’t waste your money!
I’ve played this course many times over the years, but I’m quite certain I played my last Saturday. If you like to slop it around on a wet, muddy course with serious drainage issues, this is the place for you. There were busted sprinklers spewing water aimlessly on more than one hole. As a result, the pace of play was horrible. Very disappointing.
