Ridgeview Ranch Golf Club
About
Ridgeview Ranch is a Jeff Brauer design that opened in 1997. It’s friendly to the average golfer because there are rarely forced carries of water or sand to reach the large greens, making short approaches good candidates for easy ups and downs.
The design rolls through hills and trees, incorporating two creeks that come into play. The fairways are average-sized and flat, although there are a few surprising elevation changes for this flat part of north Texas. The course rolls through a housing addition and some of the holes are very tight.
Nos. 7 and 11 stand out in particular. The 7th goes 161 yards over White Rock Creek to a sloping green. No. 11 is tough because is plays well over 400 yards uphill into the prevailing wind.
Other notes: Carts are mandatory on weekends before 2 p.m. The cemetery next to the No. 3 green has graves dating back to 1800 and a historical marker to commemorate the settlers commissioned by Stephen F. Austin.
Getting there : From Dallas, travel north on the Tollway and exit Spring Creek. Turn right and drive 5 miles to Independence. Turn left and drive north to Ridge View Dr., then take a right and the course is on the left.

One of it’s kind
Westridge is the only course I know of that has six of each, par threes, par fours, and par fives. Course is in excellent condition, and the remodel turned out awesome!
Pretty fun course
I got a round in on a business trip to Plano. The course is fairly maintained, not very many dead spots in the fairways. The bunker I got in had very fine white sand which had been manicured recently. A LOT of ungulation, several times my drive would land out of my line of sight on the fairway due to the rolling hills. Greens were excellent no visible divot marks and rolled pretty fast.
Greens in fantastic fall condition. Very smooth and firm!
Love my favorite local course. I usually team up with another golfer or group. Always meet nice friendly people that, like me, enjoy the greatest game ever played!
Greens are much better
I have played this course a lot over the years and the greens are greatly improved and would give them a 9 out of 10. Keep up the good work
Good value
Love playing here, always in good shape recently priced. Need to have drinking water on the course, bathrooms, and return the ball washers on every Teebox.
Don’t waste your money!
I’ve played this course many times over the years, but I’m quite certain I played my last Saturday. If you like to slop it around on a wet, muddy course with serious drainage issues, this is the place for you. There were busted sprinklers spewing water aimlessly on more than one hole. As a result, the pace of play was horrible. Very disappointing.
Play at your own risk!
I’ve been coming to Ridgeview Ranch for over 20 years. It’s convenient and the layout is nice. I’ve actually played some of my best golf there! However, I haven’t played there in well over a year due to the sheer volume of negative reviews and feedback. I was disappointed to hear that the course had fallen into disrepair and basic maintenance and greenskeeping were not being done.
I decided to take a chance yesterday and give RR another opportunity to earn my business and respect. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed and definitely will not be returning for the foreseeable future.
My first impression was pulling into the parking lot and noticing an avalanche of mud and dirt in the lot as I parked. After paying my green fee to the courteous guy in the pro shop, I proceeded to the putting green. Again, rivers of mud surrounding the green and driving range. After a few putts on the decent practice green I teed off. I’m in the middle of the fairway and you guessed it, rivers of mud and huge cracks and crevices in the fairway.
I could go on and on, but you get the picture. It’s as if they are trying to make up for months and months of neglect by flooding the course! Even a busted pipe was free flowing water on #8 fairway!
The last, and probably the most important issue that I found was:
THERE WERE ABSOLUTELY NO WATER STATIONS ON THE COURSE - NONE!!
I’ve played golf around the globe and in this is the very first time I have ever been to a course with ZERO WATER ON THE COURSE! So, water all over the golf course but none for the players?? Extremely ironic!
Needless to say I won’t be returning and, to be honest, I would like a refund! It was one of the worst, if not the worst, golf outings I’ve ever had. Fix it!
It's in the name
Ridgeview RANCH is a very appropriate name for the course.
It seemed like the dry patches of a dirt farm were randomly placed around the fairways throughout the course. Other than that everything was great. Solid greens with a challenging layout that is not crazy difficult from the tips. Definitely a course I will play again and again.
Good to see a course running well!
Got this tee time on a Hot Deal fairly last minute. It was in the middle of the day so not too hot yet at tee time. The course is in really good shape for this time of year. The green were moderate not super fast but really consistent. The fairway were soft and only a few holes looked like they had drainage issues. The intermediate rough was challenging and true anything outside of that was hard and punishing. Keep the ball in or around the fairways and you’ll have no trouble. The pace was slower than I would have liked but it wasn’t awful! We finished in about 4hrs 20mins. It is a fun course that is very getable but challenging in the right ways. The ONLY real complaint I have is the there is NO DRINKING WATER anywhere on the course. We did get a cart girl twice and the guy at the prison did warn me. So my main tip if you are going to play is BRING WATER! Otherwise great spot and a really fun round.
Green’s excellent this year. Nice track with some tight/challenging par fours, undulating greens
Conditions continue to improve
Greens were in very good shape — now, us golfers need to do our part and fix ball marks.
Still no sand on cart or par 3 tee boxes for divots
Range balls are pretty beat up, but we were able to warm up this time.
It could be with some work
Friendly staff. Greens played really well. Most Tee boxes were in good shape. The bunkers while playable need some attention. Most fairways are in good shape but lots of ruts and bumps throughout. Driving range with TopTracer is you get a membership, terrible balls though. Decent practice putting green and short game area. No GPS on carts.
Course is in terrible shape
Staff is great but the course is in terrible shape. They have irrigation problems everywhere and some of those irrigation issues have been going on for months completely unresolved. Baffling. At this price point I don’t expect a lot but it’s by far in the worst shape compared to any other course nearby.
Average Course
They need a new groundskeeper. They had their sprinklers running all day, and one guy on staff claimed that's the only way they can keep the grass green. My man, I would much rather play on dry, brown grass than have to play in mud. The course was in awful condition.
