Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel

About
Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay designed the course at the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel. Opened in 1986, the 18-hole, public course is immaculately maintained and very demanding. The course not only offers a challenging game but also beautiful panoramic views of Denver and the Rockies. It offers 7,054 yards of golf from its championship tees, playing to a par of 72. The natural landscape of the golf course features lakes and a stream, which create water hazards that come into play on many holes. The course is also well-bunkered. One the Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel premises there are excellent practice facilities and a well-stocked pro shop.

course was nice and in good condition
it was a nice course but lack some management. No starter, no ranger. We played on a Sunday morning and they were sending out singles and twosomes and the whole course was backed up. There was no reason for a 5 hour round of golf when they weren't even busy.
Well maintained course
This is a beautiful course, well maintained, and accommodates avid and moderate golfers. It could be very challenging for a beginner. The course was fun and has a nice layout. The course is very nice, but there were a few hiccups. When we played, it was about 95 degrees and there wasn't a beverage cart person anywhere to be found. The only water breaks available were at the turn and the 16th Hole. Overall, I would play this course again and also recommend it to others, but only for the right price. Luckily, I found a great deal on GolfNow.com. I would not recommend this course for the full price they charge, unless you don't care about money.
Needs more attention from Staff
We were behind an older group who moved at a snails pace. THe marshall came to us and told us to put pressure on them to play faster. Really?! They could not. They barely walked to the ball. We waited on every hole for them. At the turn we stopped to get food and drinks and a restroom break. When we got to the 10th tee box (par 3) the group had not even putted and they did not stop at the turn. We never saw the marshall again. We finally asked to play through them. No course beverage service. The pro shop was indifferent. The course itself was in very good shape but the greens were lighting fast. A little more attention ot the greens would be helpful. I love playing this course but yesterday was a bit off.
Easy layout, fast greens
The course was very well maintained. Grass on the driving range. The tee offs and fairways were very forgiving. The greens were very fast.
The sand was harder than normal and not super nice.
Slow service at the turn and did not see the marshal once - 5 hr round

love the $60 green fee...
I'd be hard pressed to pay the normal 80 dollar green fee, but at 60 is doable for a nice course.
Pace of play and course conditions wer GREAT!
Course is still overpriced in my book. I can think of 15 other Denver courses I'd rather play (for much less then the full rack rate here). If you can get the 2-for-1 SSPR.org special or a good Golfnow special it's worth a look. If you want challenging you might find another course. At least eight of the par 4's (1, 2, 4, 9, 12, 14, 15, 18) are driver-wedge or 3-wood-wedge. All the Par 5's are short, I think the longest from the blue tees is just over 500 yards. I will say as of 28 July 2013 the course is in absolutely top-notch condition. The test here is the greens. They are generally very fast, and to make things a bit more difficult, they are inconsistent. One will be lightening quick and the next about average.
The course was well manicured and played in about 4 hours.

Very nice course and staff... does need more water right now...
This is a very nice course, with a lot of diversity. The greens are tricky to read, mostly very large with undulations. Lots of bunkers by fairways and around greens. Occasional water. It was nicely maintained, but is drying out (some brown spots) due to very hot temperatures. All in all, it is a good value for the money, and worth playing several times. Great golf shop, too!
No water; really???
This course is always in pretty good shape. On this day, the range was completely closed for a kids camp. While I'm ok with that, it would have been nice to have some warning (I showed up early to hit balls). The course was on the dry side and the greens were super fast- made for a fun test. My biggest complaint was that, after hole number 6, there was absolutely zero water on the course. I paid a fair price for the golf; that price should certainly include the occasional sip of water.
Awesome course for your money
From beginning to end this was a fun experience for me, from the price for the tee time to the group I was paired with to the actual course itself. One the people I played with had great knowledge of the course lay out so that made a lot easier to play (not that it made any difference in how I played), and that made me enjoy the course even more, besides how well kept it was to some really great views. if you are in the area try and give this golf course a try you wont be disappointed.
Well maintained, tough course.
Course would be challenging at any time, this day there was a Golf Channell tournament teeing off after we did. This might explain the very fast and difficult greens. Great shape, fun course. Definitely a challenge.
Great Club House , Practice areas, and Beautiful fairways.
I liked the course. Great challenge. If you are a mid 80's golfer should play the Blues. Since 1st time playing the course I played the whites, which hurt my game because of the distances tee to green, pretty short.
Greens a little crusty, but ball rolled very beautiful.
The greens were fast and very smooth - just like I like them!
Very challenging. A great test of golf on a well maintained Palmer Design golf couse.
Good Course, But Slow Play
The golf course is always in really good condition. Pace of play is horrible and I've never seen a marshal on the course making sure people are playing at the right pace. Would be a lot more fun if you didn't have to wait on EVERY shot.

Pace of play
I like the course the pace of play is so bad I rarely think positively about it.
Great course but slow play makes it average
A beautiful course with many challenges for all levels. The pace of play is the biggest negative against the course--greater than 2.5 hours for 9 holes and definitely more than 5 hours for 18 holes. Average rating due to slow play. 5 star rating for all other areas of play.
Greens are very fast.
The course is not terribly difficult until you get to the greens. There are many terraces on the pristine greens and they are very fast. If you aren't on the right level with the pin, you will be challenged to make a two put. Fun course and I plan to play it again.
I would recommend
Course was great, restaurant staff was fantastic, terrific value...we did run across one grumpy pro shop employee...otherwise we had a great day of golf and dinner!
