Modified par three (??) Photo submitted by perimeterblack on 10/09/2020
We are going into winter, but the course was in very rough shape. Greens were terrible with weeds all around.
Course and greens
Course and greens are beat up. Greens are unplayable. Plus I got paired with three people that have never played before playing 10 balls a piece. Took us three hours just to finish the front nine. I finally left them on hole 8. I wouldn’t even pay $30 to play this course. Safe to say I won’t be back I’ll stick to the other courses. If you want to buy any beverages or food, prices are ridiculous compared to other courses. It’s double for a six pack compared to other courses. Great staff though very friendly. Gonna be awhile till they get the course back to the shape it should be in.
Not bad
Only had two problems not really big problems though. Getting stuck behind a two some as a single they wouldn’t let me pass need a marshal checking on people during the week. Caught them at hole 4 on front 9 and finally at the 9th hole I just skipped them. Back nine same thing caught a two some one walking at like hole 12-13 wouldn’t let me pass. Like I said not a big deal just slows down my pace of play and get tight waiting ten min till I can hit. Other is greens on plantation side are thick and doesn’t roll true. It’s like putting on fringe. I know they are working on it so not a big deal either still a good course to play just wanted to explain why I didn’t give it great.
Poor green conditions
I understand that this club have been taken over by its members.
They are going to be working on the course but as of right now this is not worth $10 to play.
Not bad….except the greens
Course is in decent shape. Greens are horrible. Some holes, the greens were a literal sand trap. Huge chunks of green missing. Your ball will jump off the surface if you put some power behind a long putt. Putting was a nightmare. On in 2, you will 3-4 putt because of the condition of some greens.
Course requires SIGNIFICANT maintenance
Not the best course to play. Fairways and greens in atrocious shape in front 9 - impossible to read greens with significant damage. No reasonable fairway grass for most of the holes - just dead often cracking soil.
Back 9 greens were hit and miss - weeds and excessive sand.
Course management should consider significant maintenance and upkeep.
Plantation green was horrible
The front 9 peacan was ok. But the back 9 plantation had terrible green . The green wasn’t mowed or save down. Can’t judge speed of putt and pick a decent line to putt. The 10th hole, they place the pin in the part the green where there grass sticking out like weeds . They could have put the pin at another part of the green where that was not overgrown(not that the other part was much better).
First Time
We expected better conditions at a once higher end golf course. The course has three 9 hole courses, one was closed.
The greens on the first nine were bare and hard, the greens on the second nine over grown and in poor condition.
The temperature was 88 degrees and there was no water for the players on the course.
We were charged extra $20 for range ball to warm up.
We would consider playing here again but only if we can get a discounted greens fee.
Legendary Oaks
Most of the greens were awful. Like playing on the goat farm in Hempstead at twice the cost.
Friendly
Everyone we spoke with were very friendly and helpful.
Poor conditions
The course is in worse condition. So dry.
No beverage cart.
The staff could be more friendly.
But you paid high prices to play.
If you have a tee time and would like to warm up on the driving range, it is $10 extra,
Fun for family
This was a great place to play as a family. The clubhouse needs to be updated (80’s style currently) but the courses were easy enough for kids but still challenging. The clubhouse food was GREAT but the course upkeep was very poor. All of the ponds need to be remediated and the course bathrooom is rotting.
