Sammons Golf Course

Was a good day in the course. No fault of course for all the dry, hard ground and water restrictions. Still had nice areas around the recently aerated greens. With the hard ground, the ball really ran!

Good layout. Tough course with lots of water holes and turns. Greens were recovering from aeration but good. They need to install a few signs to help navigate the course. We drove around looking for hole 5 and hole 12 and had to ask other golfers. Fairways had some decent grass but firm and dry overall with dry area “craters” that you’ll want to avoid. The tee boxes were rock hard and a challenge to get a tee into. Pro shop and kitchen staff were great but the beverage cart only came by once when we were on hole 10, after we stopped for lunch. Install a few signs, water the tee box a bit, and you have a pretty good course to play at.

I need a refund or credit for this round. I was unable to play due to a family emergency!

Ehh check in. Friendly starter. Weird layout. The total absence of signage makes the weird layout a challenge — you will absolutely end up driving around and having to ask regulars where to go your first time here. Conditions seemed fine. Punched greens but it’s a necessary part of grounds-keeping. Probably not a go-to on a Sat/Sun morning for me unless other courses are slammed, but would not hesitate to return for a practice round after work once it cools off later in the year.

Fairways and rough were very dry but still have grass to hit off of. Greens were just aerated but held and putted pretty quick.

No signs on the course directing to next hole.

Cart paths everywhere but no directions.

106 degrees!! and no water coolers on the course…Come on man!!! Still enjoy playing the course..even the quirky crisscross in the middle of the course in which a first time player would have no idea where to go.

course layout very confusing for newcomers. if we had not joined another twosome, we would have been driving all over the place.

no marker directing you to next hole, etc.

needs more signage.

This is the type of course that you have to play smarter than harder and it is fun. More signage is needed to know where to go for the next tee especially for those not familiar with the layout.

Visitor to Temple. Played this course. Layout is ok, conditions so so. Greens were consistent. Biggest negative and the reason I won’t return is the absence of signage directing u to the next hole. In my 45 years of playing golf I have never seen a course so lacking in signage. Folks I spoke with said the lack of signage is intentional ..... the city will not allow signage. Why? Who knows. Regardless, it demonstrates a real poor impression of the city of Temple to golf visitors. Last item, the cart paths need repair. If you aren’t paying attention you will get rocked big tome on the cart path. Lots of golf courses in 30 min tedious Play there! Sammons does not want you

Sammons is in pretty good condition. Greens roll true and the fairways and tee boxes were good. The only issue of note is the lack of signage to get you to the next tee. If you take a wrong turn after playing the 4th hole, you’ll end up at the 12th tee box. A couple of tee boxes have hanging tree limbs that could affect your shot. Other than that, a good test or golf with numerous water holes.
