About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Best course for the money
No other course in the area is in even similar condition for the same price. I highly recommend playing here if you’re on a budget.

Nice course for the value
The course has some nice fairways, tee boxes, and areas around the greens. Unfortunately, the greens need some work, but they are improving. I enjoy the course and find it challenging if you want to push the limits to get a better shot at birdie on the holes.

Excellent value
This is a very player friendly course. The staff in the clubhouse and on the course are very accommodating and welcoming. We had a great time with the family and certainly will make arrangements to play again when visiting the Houston area.

Good little local course
The course was in good condition considering the hot start to summer. Bayou has really good greens that are relatively speedy if above the hole….The course is nothing fancy but I always try to play when in town….When I played last the grill was closed so you had to bring your own drinks, but it should be opened again soon.

Coastal breeze golf and no houses in sight.
Decent layout for a reasonable municipal. Fun track for a challenging practice round. Greens were in great condition.

For the money, hard to beat
Look Bayou is not perfect by any means, but for the money (I paid 19 bucks with a hot deal) it really is hard to find anything better. The greens have improved massively over the years, they break true and are decently fast. The fairways aren't perfect but majority of the time you will have a playable lie. I would definitely reccomend this course if your looking for cheaper outing, just beware, when the winds are whipping it gets exponentially harder.
