About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Challenging
Aside from the 1st and 3rd holes, dirt fairway about 200 to 250 out, definitely a drop area, its pretty clean tee to green. Greens are undulating but very puttable due to excellent course care. Hopefully they get some rain soon. Fun place to play but bring your A game

They do not honor GolfNow reservations
I was reluctant, but after a couple bad experiences, I decided to try again and was disappointed once again.
I reserved a tee time and it took my reservation. Drove all the way up to pay and they said they don’t have a tee time available for me till over an hour from when I reserved it. Their GolfNow tee times show availability every ten minutes, but they supposedly aren’t accurate. No apology or anything. The guy was supremely Unprofessional and rude after he realized I was upset that they don’t update their reservations. There’s no excuse for that.
Don’t give them your business. They don’t even take care of their course or players, as it seems. Go play Bay Forest instead. Better management by far.

Was ok
Was an ok golf course. Greens are not consistent and course has lots of mud. But people there are awesome and still had fun playing.

Half a course is not as good as a full course.
Greens in fine condition. No quarrel with back nine. But the front nine fairways are dirt.

Good Course For The Money
Pretty decent course especially for the $27 Hot Deal. Good condition all around. Pace of play was terrible after 7. Twosome in front of me was playing 2 shots almost every shot and no one came by to tell them to stop and move on. First 7 holes was under and hour. Remaining round was over 2 hours. Also didn’t like I was playing solo and had to get in same cart with someone I don’t know. Pro shop said this was standard at all courses which is not true.

A Fan Again
I have played Bayou for a long time, and when I was there a few months ago it was bad. But I wanted a close quick and cheap round on July 4th so I played it. Greens were excellent, tee boxes were nice, and the overall course was maintained better than I think I have ever seen it. I am a fan of this course again. Snack bar is closed, but you can bring your own drinks now, and they have plenty of cold water all over the course. There is pretty much a fair wind there too, so bring on the summer!

Great round as usual BUt
Every time we play we get behind beginners who are not being taught golf etiquette by anyone. Marshall nowhere to be found to get onto these rookies. I understand beginning to play but learn how to be courteous to the ones behind you.

Fun in the sun!
Booked the hot deal and for the money this is a good course. The fairways on the first 3 holes have been an issue for some time, but the other holes are in good shape. The greens were sanded and slow, but still rolled true. Loved the pace of play, were smaller groups based on the afternoon play and weekday, so was able to finish much faster than expected. I will definitely go back.
