About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Relaxing Golf
A great place for a slow paced round of golf; good scenery and open setting while you enjoy a relatively low price game!
Really wet!!!
After rain from a cold front the course was soaked. Some holes were not even playable because of stand water. Other than that, the course was laid out really nicely. It is near the Bay with beautiful scenery. I would love to play it again under dryer condition.

Great condition
minimum golfers on course therefore the pace was very fast. finished round in 3 hours with 2 players.

Greens in GREAT SHAPE
never play the course after a rain shower, the course draining is terrible poor.

Great rates - considering I’m from Canada
Back 9 was really backed up due to some rain, delay, called the club house and asked we replayed the front 9.
Was not an issue- friendly staff!

This course is worth your money
Fairways are always clean and cut well and the greens are very well kept and play faster than most courses in the area. Plenty of water hazards to test chipping as well

Nice course, slow play
The course itself was in good condition with open fairways and true rolling greens in great shape. The speed of play was an issue. It was a three some ahead of us with one player added on. He was playing at normal speed but the other two had no interest in how their play impacted the thee groups behind them. A Marshall needs to speed things up. It would have made the round more enjoyable. I’ll be back but I hope this aspect is is corrected.

Some challenging holes
Nice course. We play here pretty regularly and staff is always professional and courteous.

Overall good
Couple holes had some areas that were roped off due to bad grass but greens were nice and overall everything was great

Greens Undergoing Maintenance
Played this course last week and the greens were great. Today, not so much. The greens were punched and sanded, then after teeing off on the back nine a maintenance person drove up and said the back nine was closed. All this would have been nice to know before booking a round! I did check, there’s nothing on Golf Now or the course’s website. Plus after three holes I got stuck behind someone teaching a young boy to play (the kid was around 6). Even though I was very close to being on the same tee box as the twosome they rushed to try and stay ahead of me. It was disappointing to wait on every shot while the twosome in front hurried and hit one after another poor shot, only delaying everything. It’s a shame courses do not regulate slow play.
Give this course a few weeks to get the greens back. Disappointed in Golf Now as well, previous conversations indicated that unless the course is closed there’s nothing that can be done to help. 18 holes were not available to be played and the nine in service were un-puttable.

Greens are Great
My last visit here the greens were infected with pawana grass, not anymore, the greens are in super condition. It was cart path only, the course can hold water, so some of the tee boxes needed to be mowed. Overall the course looks great. This course like many struggles with slow play, marshaling for pace of play is needed.

First time
The course was very wet due to rain from previous day. Cart paths only which slowed down pace of play, but all players were considerate and weren’t pushy. A fairly easy course for the most part. Hardest part about this course was figuring out where a few tee boxes were placed. Very little signs telling you the next tee box location.
