Bayou Golf Course
About
Joe Finger laid the Bayou out in the 1970s. The links-style course he carved out of the 200 acres along Moses Bayou has plenty of water and elevated tees and greens. The Galveston Bay winds affect this open course, so the 6,665-yard, par 72 plays significantly longer. Every par 5 is over 500 yards, and four of the par 4s are over 400 yards.
On the front, the long par 4 No. 6 is tough because the approach must carry the bayou to a tiny green. And No. 10 involves a lake off the tee and on the approach.
The back is what really tears into the soul of a golfer, though, presenting a 580-yard double dogleg on No. 15 followed just a short while later by the ridiculous 475-yard par 4 17th. This hole is lined on the left by old Moses, and water hazards creep into the fairway. The inevitably long approach goes into an elevated green guarded by water.
Getting there : From Hwy. 146 south, turn right on Loop 197, and head over to Ted Dudley Dr. Turn right, and the course is on the right side of the street.

Excellent Texas City Golf Course
Awesome southern professional friendly respectful environment, staff, & PGA Instructors. Beautiful greens, great programs, fairways, driving range chipping putting, club house facilities.. Overall recommendations to any private, cooperate, education, businesses for fundraising opportunities and to any level golf player.
Course in Good Shape
The course is looking good, Bayou tends to hold water longer than area courses, but everything had dried out. Pace of play is an issue. I was a single in a cart and couldn’t get through a two-some. At least two open holes ahead of them all day and they were hitting extra shots while people were waiting on them.
Hi, Paul. Thank you for reviewing the course and rating us 4 stars! Let us first start by apologizing for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We appreciate your feedback, and we will continue to work towards an excellent experience. We are also glad to see you enjoyed the course conditions during your round. Thank you for playing @BayouGolfCourse. We hope to see you again soon.

Swamp! Too much rain
The course l[ks good all things considered. It is playing extra long since you don't get any roll. The greens were redone a couple of years ago and they are in great shape. No foreign grass anywhere. Hopefully the rains will subside. Cart paths only is tough. Great course for the money on Golf Now!!
Bad course
The worst course that I have ever played..
If they know it is so so sorky and wet, they should just close the course for the day,
Even though it is hot deal and cheap, the person playing will not enjoy his or her game.
I was so disappointed, I only played nine holes , cause it was that bad. .
If you want people to come back to this course, make some improvements, maintain it well. At least for the price paid.
This is a pretty flat, open course with a few smallish trees. The course is in pretty good condition; especially for mid August. Tee boxes and greens were nice.
I had a good time. I hadn't played much during the summer heat so it was a good place for me to get back into the swing of things.
Good Value
Course is in good condition, the greens had been punched a couple weeks ago and were a little slow and bumpy, but it shouldn’t be a concern in a couple more weeks.
Great round for the price
I’ve been playing here for years and the course is always in pretty good condition. The staff are friendly and the prices are good. Great round for the value and one of the better public courses in our area
Fun, Forgiving and frustrating
I was with two other singles and we were matched up thanks to a friendly starter. The Greens in the last two months have changed dramatically for the good,The pins were placed strategically and the fairways are decent with green grass making approaches manageable, only two greens would not hold.
The tee boxes are clean and well groomed. The course is very forgiving even though there is water on 16 of the 18 holes. We played on a Saturday in under 4 hours. I was surprised to witness a small amount of golfers for a Saturday... always a nice breeze on this track.
Great Value
Greens were in pretty good shape. Most of the fairways were in pretty good shape. Pace of play was phenomenal. Really enjoyed this outing
Great greens
Course layout offers challenges for all levels. The greens are in great shape and roll true.
The course was in pretty good shape minus a few fairways. TC is always a fun and challenging course
Bayou Golf Course
Decent day with higher than expected winds, the greens are really coming in nice now. Teed off around 10:30 am and play began as expected. A few groups in front playing a little slow but with the wind helping to shape shots for you what can you do right : )
Overall the course is getting much better and kudos to the bayou golf team for diligently working to get these greens back to where they belong. Always enjoy playing here, great staff, nice layout and always seem to meet someone willing to pair up, most of the time.
Greens are Back!
Previously the greens were bumpy, but not this time. The greens have recovered, they’re not as fast as they have been, but the ball rolled true. The course is a little low and on some holes, after a big rain, some of the fairways can hold water. The area recently had rain, so a couple of the fairways were soft, but no water standing. Pace of play was good but it did slow down on the back nine. Overall a fun course.
Good pace.
Always enjoy playing my hometown course. Many improvements over the last 15years of playing here. Very friendly staff.
Great course
I have played this course and tons around the southeast area of Houston. The greens are a little animated/difficult but the last 2 times I played before this round the greens were horrible. Weather mostly... obviously they are professionals and want the greens to be as nice as we as players do. It drives me crazy for people to just bash a course for conditions outside of their control but at the same time I appreciate honest reviews on current conditions. Well they did what they needed to and I’m pleased to leave this review stating they are playable again and rolling well. The value is always here. Wind on the bayou and semi narrow fairways make it a fun course for all levels. If you haven’t played here then book a tee time and enjoy.
Some holes have water on both sides of the fairway and protected greens by bunkers. Challenging
My home course. Many improvements over the last 12 yrs or so. Friendly and helpful staff. Course also has a chip and pitch course to play for fun or practice.
Bayou Golf Course
The course was in terrible condition. It was very dry and had very hard surfaces on the fairways and tee boxes. The greens were spotted with random clumps of grass and completely inconsistent. There are often hot deals at this course but under these conditions it isn’t even worth playing for a cheap deal.
