About
The first "daily fee" course built in the Rio Grande Valley, Tierra Santa opened in 1997 as the centerpiece of a residential community. This challenging 18-hole track was designed by Jeff Brauer, who consulted with PGA Tour pro Steve Elkington to sculpt the flat farmland into undulating fairways that wind through a total of 14 lakes.
The course is very challenging, with water on most holes, significant length, and wind that seems to always blow strong. The lush fairways are covered in bunkers, and most holes are finished off with extremely large, fast greens that reek of championship quality. The trick here is to know where to bail out, as many "safe" bailout areas were incorporated into the layout.
Five of the par 4s are over 430 yards. The 3rd hole offers a risk-reward decision with a double fairway that tempts you with a 200-yard carry over water on one side, and a safe landing area to the right. The most difficult hole on the course is the 443-yard No. 5, which features a 200-yard carry off the tee and water on the left of the fairway and beside the green. No. 9 can get you as well-it's a 460-yard monster with bunkers all over the fairway.
The scenic 18th is the signature hole at 451 yards with water along the left side and bunkers on the right. Your approach shot must carry the waterfall fronting the green.
Getting there : From Harlingen or McAllen, take Hwy 83 to the Westgate exit. Drive 3.5 miles to the end of the road where the course is located.

Good course for the money
Didn’t realize it was a holiday so pace of play was ridiculously slow. 5hrs and a bit to play 18 holes and waited on every hole. Other than that the course was pretty good, a bit dry but overall in good shape
Tierra Santa
Great golf course, one of the best in the valley. Course is kept in good condition. Greens have good speed. Lots of tees to choose from to make it as challenging as you want. Recommended forveveryone.
Course is in fantastic shape, only needs work on the bunkers, but that’s the same for most courses in the rgv.

Played in a tournament 3 weeks ago, struggled at first but today I shot an 83..
Old man vs young guys. Felt good to win side bets. LoL.
Beautiful view challenge but people dirty left behind trash bottles of beer can boxes of golf balls. Also need to have space between groups playing to prevent fights or arguments some people don't have Ethics golf play. We almost got into a fight. Probably need more Marshalls to be around the fill on does days a lot of people. They almost hit me with the golf balls twice hole 4. Hole 7 I left behind golf cart so they see we still on play on putter. Hole 8 came arguing that I block them to play why did you let us play yelling and they even haven't finish play there putter on hole 7. Tell them no rush beside we got three groups in front of us they said I don't care. They hitting front white tee l. we from blue tee. First time in three years playing on golf course never see that need a better organization plays

I like this course. It is challenging but fair. Be ready for the wind though!

My favorite course in the RGV area. Good length for me. Other courses in the area are long for low handicap older golfers.
Played twice this weekend Saturday and Sunday
Course is definitely worth it for the price the lay out was super cool good fairways and greens the greeens are slow right now still coming back from being aerated they are like 80% healed just a little bumpy they will be perfect in a week or two
Golf course is awesome for the price
Just not bunkers and the greens are almost back to 100% they are slow from being aerated! But the fairways and rough look beautiful
