Great features, clubhouse staff is a little inattentive at times.
Get there 15-20 min before you're supposed to tee off, especially on a busy day - the clubhouse staff are very nice, but slow and occasionally inattentive. If you're a single or twosome and it's a weekend day, you're likely to be paired with others, which is the case no matter where you play. Overall, course is in great condition for this early in the year (May 12, 2013); they do a great job of maintaining the greens and moving the flags around to difficult or alternative pin placement every couple days.
Great place to play, different holes and challenging locations, good beer and food selection between holes, and nice course/views/elevation changes. Solid choice, especially for the GolfNow hot deal prices that occasionally show up!
Beautiful Course in Great Condition
I played Tower Ridge on Friday and I was blown away by it. First, the course is in pristine condition, with the exception of some bunker work that needs to be done on 17. The staff was very friendly; my bag was unloaded for me from my car and then, after telling the attendant that I had never played Tower Ridge before, I was taken on a personal tour of the course so that I would know what to expect!
As to the course itself: it is a very challenging course, full of elevated greens, sideways lies, undulating greens, and carries over water. But it is also a remarkably beautiful layout, with holes 5-8 in particular just majestic. Those holes are carved out of Avon Mountain; the greens at 5 and 7 features incredible views of the central Connecticut valley. The course was in pristine condition and, although I didn't score well, it was such a great experience for a good price ($46 with cart) that I didn't really mind my higher-than-usual score.
Tower Ridge is very highly recommended!
Located at the base of a cliff offered challenging elevation changes.
The cart paths are in very poor condition but the course was in good shape. Greens are very very firm. Note: a Shooting club is located next to the course so there was shooting noise but I did not find it to be a problem. I would play it again and at $35 including cart it was a great deal.
totally ignored by staff in pro shop/golf shop
ho hum; no clubhouse anything available
seems marginal condition at best.
Great course with character
The scenery is great on this hillside course and they built the holes on the hill such that you are rewarded for hitting a good shot and have the potential for a high score depending on where you hit your bad shots. The State Police shooting range is close by so you might hear gun shots during your round. It's not loud enough to mess up a shot, but I wish I had known about it before my first round there.
for the spring this course is in great shape
greens were fast, bunkers need more maintenance. Staff friendly and someone collects your bag from car and sets up in cart for you. Accuracy is a premium on this course but very picturesque and fun to play.
Tough course, but a good challenge
This course is well laid out, with lots of water hazards and tight fairways on terraces of cliffs on the side of Avon Mountain.
Played thru 2 foursomes and a fivesome? but all were gracious and didnt seem to mind. Played in 2 1/2 hours and enjoyed the course.
Not a bad little track for its age, it had some interesting holes and a nice little mountian backdrop. I would defintely go back if I was in the area agian. ( for the price a great deal ) Conditions were not bad for this time of year just wish the greens were a bit faster.
Probably one of the most picturesque courses in the state !!
The course has some challenges. Can't wait to play it again in 2013.
Course in excellent shape few golfers...perfect.
Course was in great shape and weather was cooperating. mid 40's but ball was flying well. For $25 this is an exceptional value. Best Golf views in CT.
Challenging, scenic course.
One of my favorite courses in the greater Hartford area which is unusual because I don't usually score all that well there. It has several challenging holes and is usually in good condition (although the sand traps could use a little work). Some people dont like the course because there are a few holes that you are likely to encounter side hill lies but if you know how to play them, that shouldn't present a problem. The greens are usually fast and can have severe breaks depending on the pin placement. Finally, they have some good meal deals in the restaurant/grill.
Would play again
The course was in good condition. It was challenging with some narrow holes and strategically placed bunkers. Pace of play was a bit slow on the front 9, but picked up on the back.
Great variety of golf challenges.
I am new to Connecticut and have been seeing the state via the golf course deals through golfnow. Don't miss this one as it was one of my favorites so far. The greens were in great shape for fall golf, the leaves were under control through great grounds maintenance and the course had all the challenges I look for. Can't wait to play here again!
Course was in fine shape. As a twosome we played through one group of nice women and played in three hours.
Was a member here, years ago. The course is nearly as well conditioned as when it was private. Definitely a shotmakers course and lots of challenge. I highly recommend this club, especially with a knowledgeable companion!
Fun course !!!
First time at T Ridge, we had a great experience. It's a fun course, up and down the mountain with great views. Course was in good shape, a great value and we will be back. The proshop was well stocked and there was a resturant on site with a fantastic buffalo chicken wrap that we ordered to go at the turn.
I felt this course needed some work
We were playing behind a small best ball tournament. It was a hot day which may play into my review.
We did not finish so I do not have a review with regard to the back nine.
Needs attention
Played with friends on September 10, 2013 and played there a few years ago when it was a private CC. The overall conditions have deteriorated substantially in the last few years. Greens were pretty good but the rest of the course could definately be a lot better. Probably will not play again, although the price through GolfNow was very cheap.
