Fyre Lake Golf Club

About
Fyre Lake Golf Club boasts the only Nicklaus Design golf course in the Quad Cities. Water, grass, and sand were seamlessly combined to create a diverse and challenging course. The layout features winding fairways that snake their way through mature hardwoods and the lush emerald greens contrast beautifully with the lakefront setting. A variety of elevation changes come into play throughout the course. The rolling greens often have multiple tiers and they are usually also flanked by protective bunkers. In addition to the water, wind is another element that will challenge you on this layout. The final hole is a par 4 that plays from an elevated tee box. Fyre Lake Golf Club's hole bends sharply to the left, wrapping around a lake, and since it plays into the wind, getting the proper pin placement is quite a feat.

Biggest rip off in Illinois
Charging more than advertised price, fairways in terrible shape, cart path only on half the course...you find that out when your cart shuts off, I think Charging 4 dollars for a bottle of water is ridiculous
Recommend for single digit handicap Golfers only.
This course should be rated to be played by single digit handicap Golfers only. RJ
Section of course and condition
Weather was wet so that had an impact, biggest issue we noticed was a lack of a collar around the greens. This by design? Enjoyed the course and layout, staff was super friendly and helpful.
Pure test
Played a Fall scramble in 2023, this week was first time going back. Was fun in 2023 but could clearly see improvements that have been made in the short time. Pure fairways, most true greens you can find for the $$$, moderately tough but fair lies in the rough, and incredible views. Can tell the staff absolutely grinds to keep the property an elite golf experience.
Hidden gem. Perfect for a golf trip to show the fellas what small town IL golf can provide. Also, great burger at the turn.
bad bunkers hard and soft fairways all holes Jack would not be happy with the bunkers very poor
New Favorite
Can’t beat the scenery! The course isn’t easy but we had a blast. Will be back.

We had a great time on this course. The golf was amazing. We met a very nice couple that play there all time. The conditions were perfect. The greens were tough but fair. Just enough water to be difficult, but fun. Excellent condition and the price was fair. Will definitly be going back.
Wow!
We played TPC Deere Run Sunday and played Fyre Lake Monday.
The course was wide open.
I prefer Fyre Lake than TPC Deere Run.
The course layout is great!,
You need a good strategy to attack this course.
Every hole has it's character and demands respect.
I would recommend this course.
BTW, bring your own sandwiches.
There is no food around the course.....
One of My Favorite Nicklaus Course
If I had not played Harbor Shores on the shores of Lake Michigan, this would be my favorite course by Jack! Almost every holes could be a signature hole of most courses!! The front 9 currently has no houses and the back 9 has them in several holes.
Course is worth the effort to play for the traveling golfer!
Gem of a course
This course was so much fun!! I can't wait to go back and play!! The layout is unique with challenges throughout the course, but also a fairness that makes it enjoyable.
Amazing course- best value anywhere
For 60 dollars you can play this course with a cart- its a 5/5 for me. Course is amazing- Nicklaus design - and I am not a fan of his courses but this one does it for me.
Course is immaculate condition- greens are amazing (2 weeks after punched and they are rolling great). Staff is super friendly. Club house could use some work but who cares I am here to golf. Its the best value to start with but even at $150 I would play this course- its so freakin good.
Played in 3 hours
Amazing Course!
Great layout
Great staff
Great condition
Pace of play too slow
Overall a must play!
Not Customer Friendly - Ranked Last out of 97 Courses
We are a group of four guys. We pick a different course each month throughout Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin and a few courses in Arizona in March. We have golfed 97 rounds on 91 different courses. There is even a green jacket involved!
I can tell you that out of those 97 rounds, this was the worst treatment we have ever experienced in terms of professionalism by a golf staff member. We believe it was the Superintendent / Head Groundskeeper. It was not the clubhouse staff. They were friendly. Looking back, we wished we would have taken the time to use it as a teaching moment for this hothead. This would have meant pulling him aside and sharing a little more about how you communicate with customers. I work in the Agribusiness sector and work with ag marketers, business unit leaders and even agronomists... and we just don't treat people this way. Maybe this person is going through a difficult time in his life or was just having a bad day, but that is zero excuse for the EGO and word selection that was used toward our group. (Apparently we had gotten off three feet to the right of the cart path on one particular hole and weren't aware of it being a restricted area)
At the time, we had a friendly money game on the line and we did want to finish our round. So, we apologized and moved on.
I own a few different businesses and if one of my employees ever spoke to customers that way, I would remove the employee from the situation and in private, terminate them the same day.
Out of principle, we just wouldn't play this course again.
Must play course in the area!!!
Amazing course.
We’ll be back, so many great holes!
