Cancun Country Club - El Tinto Golf Course
About
El Tinto Golf Club (formerly known as TPC Cancun) has an environmentally friendly layout that is a popular destination for the PGA Tour. It serves as host to several events throughout the year. When crafting the course, special care was taken to protect the native flora and fauna. As a result El Tinto blends seamlessly into the existing environment. The Nick Price design also utilizes the terrain's natural elevation changes and water features. It's a challenging but fair test with more than 80 strategically placed bunkers and five lakes that come into play throughout. You will encounter some tricky holes but the different sets of tees cater to players of every skill level. El Tinto G.C. is conveniently situated just minutes from all the major area hotels and it's less than a half hour from Playa Del Carmen.

The pace was awful , there is no control on the course , the marshal had like 13 years old , the first cartboy we saw tell us it was 13$ usd for a beer , so we said never mind . to find out later with another cartgirl this time that the beer was 3$ Usd. we told her that the guy was charging us 13$ .. so two holes later the same guy came back and ask us what was the confusion , that he never said that and we are liars . Im glad that i tried this course but never again .
horrible experience
This is the absolutely worst I've ever been treated at a golf facility. The head pro is a sucker. Never will tell anyone to play there. Make sure you don't have any range balls in the cart, they charge you $50.00 USD. EVEN IF YOU HAVEN'T HIT ONE! They refused to give us a ride back to our resort if we didn't pay the money to them. Take advantage of the gringo's!!!
Long Course with lots of Strategic Bunkers
If you're playing the Blue tee, it's indeed a long course if you don't drive an average of 240 - 250 yard and you won't get a "happy play". The water & rough hazards are generally along the side of the tight fairways. The course layout is challenging and set in a mangrove/swamp environment with lots of wild birds though we didn't see any alligators. The fairways and bunkers condition are good except for the greens that were lately aerated.
The fee includes only 1 bottle of water per person and you've to pay $20 for a round trip hotel pick-up.
Overall, EL-Tinto Golf course is a great course in terms of layout and challenge.
Good Course
I recently played this course while on holidaying at the Ocean Coral and Turquesa resort. I paid $165 for green fees that included pick up and return to the resort as well as cart rental. I had to rent clubs at the club. The clubs cost $50 to rent and they weren't worth $50 to buy. The clubs were Ping G20 irons and driver. The set consisted of 2 four woods for some reason and a 9 iron that had most of the chrome wore off. The grips were the original and were fraying. Even the golf bag had seen better days. The course I play at in Canada replaces its' rental clubs every year (this year were Titleist irons and woods). and they charge no where near the price I paid to play Le Tinto. A course that charges this must should be embarrassed to provide such horrible clubs.
The course itself was pretty good except it the greens had not fully healed from aeration and some were still bumpy.Other than these issues the course played well.
poor staff.. equipment poor
cart condition.. poor… both right an left clubs rented: very, very POOR condition… not worth the rental fee… check in staff.. needs customer training…
Very dissapoointed
I played 4 rounds of golf during our 6 day stay. This was by far the least enjoyable round. The other 3 courses were much better and the staff seemed uninterested. Customer service was lacking. I saw that El Tinto was rated 2nd on the island, I did not see it being better than the other courses I played for. Definitely did not seem TPC quality.
I thought the course was in poor shape. There was sand on all the greens & the back nine was closed & we had to play the front nine twice. If I had known this I would have booked another course.
TPC Cancun
Excellent staff was able to play on the hot deal very good price for the course. Greens played well. And had plenty of bunkers on the course.. overall would recommend it if staying in Cancun. November golf is not cheap in area so looking for a hot deal sure helped.
Great place to play golf. Amazing conditions. Felt like I was the only one out there. Cancuns best kept secret in golf.
Challenging course
Enjoyed this course, well laid out. Greens were true but a little slow finished round 3-1/2 hours!
El Tinto - Cancun CC
Course was in great shape.
We booked with Golfnow Hot deals. Arrived a little early for our tee time … we were allowed to tee off … played through one couple, with many thanks … and we went through in 3 hours.
Good price in Cancun
Cheapest in Cancun for the day. No pencils with course logo. Food was too slow.
Great course!
It’s a great course if you play from the right tees…. The championship tees stretch out at 7310 yards. Choose wisely and you will have great time. Conditions were pretty solid from tee to green. I will definitely be back when I’m in the area again
Fairway - Greens
Solid layout without any hole standing out above another. Fairways are generous and Greens in perfect shape.
Always a pleasure, but…
This course is beautiful and well designed. The practice area is included and fantastic. Open fairways to reduce lost balls for us average players, but there’s a consistent drawback. The course is always a little wet. If you’re a perfect ball striker, no problem. But for me, I don’t always hit perfectly, so when I take just a bit too much divot on this course, I lose anywhere from 10-40 yards. Divots are always wet and unexpectedly grab your club even though they are shallow.
I’ll definitely go back again, except with this in mind.
In some ways, it’s a challenge that I have to overcome anyway.
