A challenge for every club
Fairway or creekbed? Take your pick. No forgiveness or second cut of any kind, straight down the creekbed. Elevations are all over the place, mostly all up hill. Dog legs are 150 yards and then sharp turns, nothing you can draw or fade into (and there are a lot of them).
No hot food, drink cart, GPS or any modern amenities on the course.
Greens are half cut-down weeds that jump your ball off line. The course would be good if not for this alone.
You will score higher than your handicap on your first go through it just for not knowing the course.
Would Not Go Back
The layout could be fun if you can overlook significant areas around greens, in the rough right off the fairways and on the tee boxes where there is nothing but mud and or rocks. It’s early season but it’s apparent these areas never have grass or other turf cover growing. Again early season following rain the prior evening, but even still the greens were long and shaggy and fairway grass sparse. We had played Pounce the day before and course conditions were significantly better even though there were rains the night before. We called the number on the website to inquire about cart path only status and were told the course was fully open to carts. I even asked the same question a different way to confirm carts were allowed on fairways and was told yes. We drove 40 minutes to get there only to find out it was cart path only. I told the person checking us in that we had called and were told it was open. He told me I had to ask for the course! Well how was I supposed to know I wasn’t talking to the course when they answered the number from the course website using the course name. When I shared this thought the attendant became very huffy and basically scolding me for not knowing it was actually golf now. Enough said. It was inexpensive to play and we got what we paid for..
Greens and pace were rough. No cart service and grill was closed. Guy working pro shop was very nice. Really fun layout. Hope greens and better in summer.
It was a beautiful day for golf!
The course was great, and the person I played with made me want to puke!
Diamondhead Firsttimer.
Course was very challenging… Clubhouse closed in the middle of the week was disappointing.
Good value
Nice course, played well! Some of the cart paths were a bit rough with asphalt needing repaving. Otherwise, enjoyable day, would definitely recommend this course! Staff was very nice and helpful!
Challenging course at a good price.
Diamond Head has a great course for the golfer who has a long drive and the golfers who like to play for accuracy, there are plenty of hazards to play around.
Value
This was a very mature and well maintained course. Much of it links style. Narrow fairways bordered by ditches and a couple extreme doglegs made it very challenging. The $18 deal I got on Golf Now probably ranks as the best round of golf for the price I have ever played. Restaurant was closed, but was expected to open in a couple weeks
This course doesn’t have slow play restrictions.
I have never played a golf course that allowed 10 players in a group, until yesterday! We started play about 1:30pm and by 3:30pm we only on hole #8. The weather got bad with potential thunderstorm and play was suspended. We left and went home not finishing the other 10 holes. We drove 86 miles to play this course but only got in 8. I was very disappointed to say the least! I doubt that I will drive that far a distance again to play that course.
