Like no other course
Beautiful layout in an industrial area with all the factories the Polasky skyway the air brakes from the trucks on route 1&9 and the New York skyline fabulous golf course .
Love the course as much as the off course view.
GREAT COURSE-MUST PLAY
This is the best 9 hole course in NJ. Play from the correct tees for your handicap. You have to be a + handicap to play from the back tees. You will not go wrong playing this course.
a special gem
greens were fast and smooth. very interesting linksy layout. plays tough in the strong wind. totally unique and fun experience.
Kicked off the course???
This course refused to let us finish at 7:05 on a summer day, we got kicked off with out balls on the 9th green exactly 2 hours and 5 minutes into play. Their excuse was that there was roadwork nearby and they had to, and I quote "wash the carts". Why sell tee times past 6 if you're going to kick people off at 7:05.
Nice "LINKS" in Jersey City !
Great fun !!! Amazing Creation. Worth the trip. Next time will play 18 using different tees.
Hidden GEM
Once you get to the course after driving in traffic in a not so nice area, you pull into the parking lot and can not believe that you are in the middle of Hudson County. You will be welcomed by a wonderful staff and the course is a GREAT shape. Due to the winds coming off the river along side the course you will find this course to be a challenge.
Very disappointing
I play Skyway on and off during the season as its really close to my house. Of the 20 times or so that I have played this course in the last 3 years, today it was in it's worse possible condition.
The bunkers had very little sand, you could actually see the drainage pipes in them. The fairways were chewed up. And the worst part were the greens. They extremely inconsistent and half of them were sanded down like crazy.
I really hope this was an off day and the course can go back to the pristine condition it was in (especially the greens).
Great track. Unique
This is a really high-quality nine hole golf course. Don’t expect much from the off course facilities, but the course itself is a very fun and beautiful challenge set in the middle of a very industrial area. I wouldn’t be surprised if enemies of the Sopranos were buried during the course construction :)
Fescue was high, greens are fast and true, wind can be a big factor. I’m looking forward to playing it again now that I know the layout
Golf Course’s Biggest Mistake
I played on Father’s Day so I expected a packed course and slower than ordinary play. Well 2 hours and 20 mins in I was about to tee off on the 7th hole- almost 25 mins. per hole! So where did the course management go wrong? First they grew the fescue as high as I’ve eve seen it- bad move that makes the course too challenging for the caliber of player the course attracts; 2) Little on course presence to make sure that the pace is maintained
As a side note they were totally unprepared for a busy Sunday. No hot dogs available in the clubhouse grill by 1 PM. Outdoor grill dismantled by 2 PM. I was told that the Fodd and Bev manager is off on Sunday and the delivery is on Monday. The employees at the course are nice but you could see the impact of lack of effective management. I’ve always loved this course, but with all the sub $50 tee times ( 18 holes) available at other courses this year, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon. P.S. I walked off after teeing off on 7. Asking me to hit my shots 10 mins apart is a course’s biggest mistake. Takes all the fun out of it...
Finally a Hudson County public course!
Living in Hudson County and NOT having $500,00.00 to join Liberty or Bayonne is a drag. Finally having a public course within the county is a true blessing. Finding out that the course is not only beautiful, well maintained and challenging, is only improved upon by the staff. They treated us as if we HAD paid 1/2 million dollars. No question as to the fact that we will be back. Skyway is on top of my local course recommendations!
Unusual Lincs Course
A nine hole course demanding one keep it in the fairway, or be prepared for unplayables and lost balls in long rough and mounds covered with weeds, especially on the three tough par 5's. Actually, ascending the mounds lining the fairways is prohibited. Regardless, the course is a fair test of one's skills sometimes complicated by the winds which tend to blow regularly. Still, it's a golfing oasis in crowded Jersey City where only the elites can play private Liberty National.
An oasis in a urban environment
An empty parking lot here doesn’t mean the course is empty since many of the golfers arrive via Lyft/Uber from Hoboken and Jersey City.
The course is in great condition with firm fairways that are wide enough for a fade but a slice gets you in the fescue. Hitting out if the fescue if you can find your ball is really tough. Play a provisional for the errant tee shot.
Greens were reasonably fast and true. The bunkers our 4 some explored were all in good condition.
This course is best when walked as the cart only slows down play if you venture over the mounds or into the fescue.
Solid Nine Hole Facility
The course was very well maintained for the time of year. Retained excellent playability in the wind. It does have a different make-up of holes, having 3 of each par hole. That adds to the variety. Overall, very solid. A recent book was released ranking the 25 best nine hole courses in North America, this course is better than one of the courses on that list, in my opinion.
nice and fun
greens in good condition, fairways good condition wide fairways on most fairways
