Great course, beautiful kept... food offerings need work
Foamy draft beer, no snickers bars- only equally unhealthy Gatorade bars... room temperature soda, asked for ice and got about 3 tablespoons of crushed ice in bottom of huge cup.
In short BYO Food to this very nice course.
Pro Shop & Starters are very accommodating
friendly, and the temp trailer pro shop is impressively stocked for a smaller course.
Sandy Greens
They punched the greens a couple weeks ago and there was still a lot of sand on them. They rolled pretty smoothly but were just very slow due to the sand. I want to play again when the sand is gone off the greens to see how true they really are.
4:20 Tee Time
Pros;
friendly staff
average pace
course layout was good
good course condition
Cons;
Geese droppings
Improvements
Since I last played here the made a good course even better. Thy cut down the rough so less time searching for balls and they made the 8th fairway more reachable off the tee. I wish it was 18 holes.
Great Place for A Quick Nine
It is an unusual place for a golf course. The area is industrial. It is just a short distance from The Pulaski Skyway. The clubhouse does not have amenities just a place to pay for golf. Once on the course it is a great links experience. Wind water and strategic bunkering pose varied threats as the three par 3s, par 4s and par 5s require skill. The course plays hard and fast. Greens were extremely fast and have large breaks which are clearly defined by undulations. A great experience
City golf at its best.
I first picked up a real club here in 1971 when it was a cruddy driving range and pitch and putt . They transformed a flat piece of land into a superb links course with teeth. If the course was around in 1995, I would never have moved to New Hampshire. The greens were true and fast. The fairways were tight and undulating. If able, I'd recommend walking over taking a cart to get the best experience. It is the first and only public access course in Jersey City and Hudson County. Easy ride from Newark Airport for a quick 9.
Quick pace. Very well maintained
Entire staff was very friendly and always wanted to help
Best Thing to Happen to the Area
Pros:
-Friendly and accommodating staff
-Great Value
-Fairways & Greens are always in immaculate condition
-Fair, but Challenging Layout
-Excellent Drainage
I love playing this course and play here regularly (1-2 times a week). I started playing golf last season, when the course opened and attribute my great progress to Skyway. I am still a high handicap (21) and average a score of 45-50 on 9 holes (best score was 44).
•The staff is super friendly, personable and always accommodating.
•The course is fair, but challenging for all handicaps.
•It is a links course, which weekend golfers are not typically accustomed to, so recovery shots out of the fescue can be difficult.
•The course layout requires fairly accurate ball placement to stay on the fairway and presents several risk/reward blind shots, particularly on hole 7 (from tee) & hole 8 (from right edge of first fairway).
•The course has a fair balance of water hazards and well placed bunkers.
•The sand traps are always well groomed, never solidified or holding pools of water, which I have noticed on many other public courses.
•Wind conditions are a factor here, even on seemingly calm days, but really complete the traditional Celtic links-style atmosphere.
•Pace of play is overall very good, but can be take 2.5-3hrs during peak hour weekend rounds.
If you have the opportunity, definitely give this course a go, my guess is you will not be disappointed.
Outstanding experience
Hard to believe growing up in Jersey City there is finally a golf course. The golf course will give you everything you can handle. The views are incredible. The greens are truly a challenge
9 holes
First time there didnt know where to hit ball but scenery was cool pace of play was good holes long enough to make it fun
A Gem
With low expectations Inwas blown away by the challenging and fun nine holes at skyway. This links holds its own vs anything In the area and that include Trump's hyped Ferry Point. I played FP last year and skyway feels like the next 9 holes of that layout but at a quarter of the price. The course was in impeccable shape and the par 36ade you earn every stroke. It's truly a diamond in the rough that is industrial jersey city. Walking is easy enough and pace of play always under two hours during the week. Kudos to all involved.
oasis in soprano's country
really cool little nine hole course stuck right next to the Pulaski Skyway. Treeless mounded links style course looks like it belongs in Ocean City MD but is in reality just blocks from where the Soprano's filmed some scenes.
conditioning is excellent and the place is well run by a friendly staff. there is no massive clubhouse just a little trailer but they do have a cart girl.
some of the holes (4 of 9) have some blind aspects to them so playing it for the first time can be confusing. however, it is so unique you'll want to play it for the second time the very next day.
Awesome
Friendliest staff in the area! A hidden gem!
Wonderful set of greens!
What a great track! Amazing they squeezed 9 really good golf holes on such a small property. This is a true test of golf and not some muni. No throw away holes and I especially enjoyed the stretch of holes 5,6,7.
Lot of talk about hole #8 but had the wind at my back making the carry easier. Fun hole.
The wind and the greens keep this course very interesting and the golfers of Hudson County truly have a gem here.
From check in to completion the staff was helpful and pleasant. I will return soon!
This is a very nice layout.
I really enjoyed the course however pace of play was terrible 2:50 for the round. It was father's day so I'm hoping their pace a play is much better for me to come back
An Oasis
So this is probably one of the most unique golfing experiences I have. I grew up in the neighborhood of this course (have long since moved to the suburbs) and never could have imagined a course this excellent in that location. I think it's a bit on the expensive side, but I sort of like it that way. It is definitely a challenge and I think the pace of play in the early afternoon has been very good. I brought one of my golf course snob friends to play and he loved it. The staff are really nice. The only challenge is that it is a little difficult traffic wise getting there from 78 or 280.
Too slow and no help from marshal
Excruciatingly slow and no help from Marshall!!! Group in front of us finished 2 1/2 holes behind with three groups stacked on tee waiting
A Gem
Very solid 9 hole track best suited for advanced players. Relatively expensive compared to other municipal courses, but the quality of this track is right up against Trump Links and Bayonne GC. Typically plays quite fast since beginners have little gain coming here as there are many better options for high handicap golfers or total beginners. Amazing condition for such a young course.
