Course is in dire need of work.
Staff was friendly but the pace of play was painful. No sand in traps, just rocks and dirt. Whomever runs this course needs to fix it before no one comes to play golf no matter what the rates are.
Pleasant round, solid B grade
Played late August, 2025. Weather was decent; overcast but warm, medium humidity. There seems to be some sort of transition with the bunkers (some have overgrowth at the edges), and there are some good size stones in a few. Some of the tee boxes are in need of TLC. Overall, a good experience at the price. Not Augusta National, but also not a municipal dog track either.
Played a round sunday
First time here. Liked the course. Good value for the money. Stay out of the bunkers!!!!! Greens were a bit hard to read as although showing a pit would break it would just roll straight. But all in all had a blast and will definitely be back!!!
No sand and no grass
Most of the sandtraps had no sand - just a muddy bottom. The tee boxes were so hard that you almost had to pound the tee into the ground. Of course, tees were only good for one tee shot because they broke since they were so firmly into the ground. Most of the fairways had many, many areas with no grass. On a positive note, the greens were in very good shape.
Sandtraps??
If you are going to have sandtraps way wouldn't you groom them and remove the weeds and grass.
Tee times are too close and course is in horrible condition. Nobody fixes pitch marks or divots, fairways are dirt, bunkers filled with rocks. People will pick up your ball without hesitation.
Ed Oliver GC Has Gone Downhill
Let me preface this review in that I've played Ed Oliver GC many times, most recently last August.
The golf course itself has great "bones" and is challenging. But wow, what a difference a year makes!!
I've played many public golf courses in the area that are in great shape, even with the heat we've been having. Ed Oliver was certainly not that.
We had to move balls out of the bunkers, as they were unplayable. The fairways were all burnt out.. The greens were adequate.
Also, on a day where the RealFeel temperature was 111, there were no water coolers or anyone driving around with water.
It was a bargain at the price, but you can tell they're having financial problems. I'd be very surprised if this place is still open next year.
Bland.
Played on a hot day in July. Got a good deal for 33 with cart for a 8:00 tee time. Course was fairly empty. Played solo 18 in 2:45 while playing multiple balls.
Of New Castle County's courses, it is probably the most narrow (at least at points)
Day started off poorly with several bunkers having water up to their edges (no rain in 4 days at the time) and several cart paths completed washed out.
Tee boxes need some TLC, greens in good shape, but fairways had their spots.
There are narrow timeslots, which may contribute to the wear, but for 32.00 it was a good deal. Ordinarily, it is 54, which is about as much as I'd be willing to pay for it.
Lot of water (beyond the water hazard/traps).
Located in downtown Wilmington and fairly easy to get to from 95.
