Great course, Fun Layout
Thanks for the great day! Best fairways in the state. Definitely check it out.
Course is spray painted green?
I came to play after a few days of hard rain, expecting lush, green grass. First glance at property, I was blown away by all the beautiful green. I thought it was exceptional, until I'm on hole 3 and see a spray truck, literally spraying every inch of the course w/ green spray paint. Even bunkers were sprayed green. Bunkers were in horrible condition, absolutely awful bunkers. Seeing how industrially the course is spray painted green... I'm curious how dead the course actually is. Layout is fun, but I'll keep playing Club at Forest Ridge over this place anytime.
Least favorite of the three nines....
The layout of the heritage course was kind of underwhelming. If you are playing 18 I would definitely choose the champions and legends courses. Overall the course was in good shape for the middle of fall. Was a very cold and windy day so the scoring was very high. Lots to see and do with the lake and resort nearby. Had dinner in the clubhouse steakhouse which was fantastic. I definitely want to come back in the summer. I would give the heritage course a 3.5/5 and the other two courses a 4-4.5/5.
Trying to shake resort image
I played the Legends and Champions 9's. At times, I was unimpressed with the hole I was on and felt like I was playing my local muni, and other times really impressed with the character and ambience and felt like I was playing one of the top ranked courses in the state. Hence why I only rated a 4 overall. Conditions overall from tee to green were good. Routing got a little confusing at times as myself and a few other groups were a little confused as where our next tee box was or which fairway or green we were hitting to. A couple holes were routed along Grand Lake which were really fun plays and there were a couple really fun risk reward holes encountered. All In all, a fun play and a fair value and would recommend.
Good First Impression
First time visitor to the area and the review is great. It was a part of leaf viewing trip and some of the best views occurred here. The course was in great shape..
The fairways were perfect, the greens fast, and the sand was soft.
It was extremely windy, 25+, so it was difficult day scoring to say the least.
We finished up on the signature hole and that was a good capper to the day.
We will be going back soon as the mrs was really impressed with the conditions and the area
Golf by Boat!
My wife and I played here right before July 4th weekend. Stayed at a log cabin right on the water about 20 minutes away by boat. Took our boat and docked it at the cabin and the loaded clubs in the boat and drove to the course. Marina arranged for a shuttle over to the course and we teed off at around 2-ish? Really hot day but great course and club house. Lake and course was dead because it was a Tuesday. Just like I like it. They have 3 sets of 9 here. Champions, Heritage and the Legend. Played the first 2. Great lay out. I used a lot of 3 woods off the tee just to stay in play on some holes. Rolling hills around the lake. Great course and it was in perfect shape. Tough small greens to putt on though.
This is a joke right? When you see a sprayer out on a golf course it isn’t spraying paint. It is a dye to let the spray tech know where he has already sprayed so he doesn’t over spray the appropriate chemicals in a certain area. That could do actual damage to the course. If you really thought that was spray paint, you probably should refrain from commenting. But then again, maybe since you wrote this the paint wore off and the grass grew back and the course miraculously got into great shape because it’s beautiful right now. But since I’m assuming you are joking, good one guy.
