Fun track
Honestly the toughest part was getting to the course. I thought they had redone the old Mallard Cove and when I got there it was closed up. Then was sent into the neighborhood before the course entrance. They were flexible about me being late. Course is new but has great potential. If the wind is blowing there’s nothing to stop it out there so it will dry out easily. Greens were firm but rolled well. I will be back, most likely in the spring.
Hidden Gem
Very impressed with the maturity of this course. The course hasn’t been open for long but I can tell you Jonathan has done a great job with his start up. The pace of play was great. The greens will play a half club shorter - the greens are firm which allows the ball to roll. Shoot for the front end and let the ball do the work! Very impressed and look forward to playing again.
Great course friendly staff. This course has been open for six weeks now. Enjoyed my round. Greens are firm and super fast. I will definitely play here again.
Fun Course with a Challenge
I really enjoyed my first game out here. The greens were quite fast, which made it a fun challenge for putting. The fairways were amazing to hit off of, and overall I thought the course was in great shape. Big ups to the staff who were on the course keeping check of the pace of play. They had a group of 5-6 that was holding everyone up, and the staff made sure they let all of us pass them. With the scottish links style course, they had over 100 bunkers so get prepared for hitting out of those. Looking forward to some more rounds out chyea
Also headsup: The address to find the place is easier if you enter around 4900 East Mcneese Street. That is the chevron gas station at the corner. Just continue west on e. mcneese st, cross the railroad track about a 1/2 mile up, and then look for the entrance on the left.
New Course
Enjoyed the experience course was difficult to locate and contact using google. Staff was very friendly and course was in great condition (new course). Will definitely like to see this level maintained as its great for intermediate and beginner golfers.
Well Done!
Bravo to the courses designer!! You give us an ambiance like no other course in this area. I felt like I was at a British Open tournament minus the pot bunkers! The fairways were very good. I wish the greens would bite a little more. But overall, I can play here every week!
Extremely Disappointed
A great missed opportunity by the designer of this golf course. Very boring layout with not one single memorable hole. No real risk/reward holes. They talk links, but it's not in reality. Sure it has no trees and lots of wind, but that is it.. Over half the holes have tee shots that you can't see where you want your ball to land (not completely blind, but you don't know if it is in the middle or lost) and you can barely see the green. They are all elevated for some reason. You have no idea if your ball is on the green or not unless you are in the front 10'.. Condition of the course was pretty good and the staff was over the top friendly, but the designer should have to refund some money. There are a lot of sand traps which will be a nightmare to keep up over the years. Most courses are trying to eliminate or minimize sand now days and the designer gave the city over 100 to maintain. Good luck with that. They really missed the mark. On top of that, it might be the most dangerous design I have ever played with multiple times the cart path leads you unexpectedly straight in front of a tee box and tee boxes right behind greens. Just doesn't make sense. Oh and the cart GPS might show you the fairway, but not show you the water to the edge of the fairway that isn't visible from the tee box. Not sure if I will play it again. Horribly designed golf course. Extremely disappointed !!
never found course!!
Missed tee time. never found course. your website and mayors office swear this course was located at 3400 McNeese street. No course located there. PGA website showed a Morganfield street address, which even google maps could not locate. Golfnow needs to refund my booking fee!!
