EagleVail Golf Club

About
What's the best way to describe EagleVail Golf Club? A river golf course? A mountain golf course? Actually, it's a little bit of both. It's also a pretty golf course ... and pretty tough. The 18-hole Bruce Devlin and Roger von Hagge design, which opened in 1974, isn't a long golf course by today's standards, but there isn't a lot of room for error. The only true mountain design for a public golf course in the Vail Valley places a high priority on shot placement, and you should as well if you want to have a good score. The tee shot at the par-5 first hole is elevated about 75 feet, there's the red barn at No. 2 (part of the area's agricultural heritage) and there are plenty of elevation changes and breathtaking views as you make your way around. But no matter what you call EagleVail Golf Club, chances are you'll be calling for another tee time once you've played there.

Beautiful views Photo submitted by dahoffman on 05/30/2013
Fun course
Challenging enough, and through a nice neighborhood set down mountain from Beaver Creek area. Definitely feels like a mountain course, with tall old pines, babbling brooks, and an array of nooks and crannies. course mini-bar at the turn. Enjoy!!
Mini vacation
Great course
Pace of play was great considering the course was full. Green reading was tricky. Enjoyed the day
Great Day
Played from the tips. The course had just top dressed the greens which made no difference to the speed of the greens which are very fast. Use the cart GPS prior to hitting Tee shots or lay ups on the par 5s. The course also has signs on the tees on where not to hit it (homes).
We had a lot of fun, beautiful views, you really need to play more than once to appreciate the design.
Good golf, great views and great weather
Great mountain layout with tight fairways, great greens and some breathtaking elevated tee boxes. Pace of play was only knock.
Overrated...
Play someplace else; too many bad things to recommend this course in my opinion. Travel outside Vail and get more course for your money
Great mountain golf
Course conditions were excellent Layout is good with a few holes that are somewhat peculiar. Some very scenic views. I would recommend it and hope to play it again someday.
Awesome course
In my opinion this is one of the best mountain courses in the area. Greens are in great shape, with two exceptions - and they are still good.
Great views and challenging holes that require accurate shots. Be sure you understand where the downhills are on the greens.
Beautiful Mountain Course
Pictures just don’t do this course justice. Winding through mountains and over streams The views are spectacular. In fact, it was hard to focus on your golf pace of play when there are so many beautiful photo opportunities. We played with a lovely local couple who was so helpful. Course is somewhat challenging, especially on certain holes but easier par 4s make it a good mix for all levels of golf. Even if you aren’t playing the back tees, go to the top and look at the views and the course layout. I played the women’s tees (should have played the ones a little further back to be a little more challenging and more in line with the yardage I am accustomed to at my home course) My husband played the backs and loved it! If your in the area don’t miss this course. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because we encounter a couple of staff members not wearing masks.
Great experience.
Course was challenging and in great shape. Staff was really friendly. We’ll be back!
Fun day of golf!
We played with a local couple with course knowledge. We had a great time playing with them and getting course knowledge from them. The course was in nice condition. The greens were a little slow compared to other courses we play. Overall we had a great time and enjoyed some very pretty views!!
Fun and Challenging Golf Course
We decided to play this course instead of the one at Vail for several reasons. First, the Vail golf course is right on I-70. That's not my idea of fun. Second, it had several temporary greens but was charging $125.
We were pleasantly surprised by this course. It is in great shape and has many challenging holes. Fortunately, we were paired with two locals. You really need local knowledge to have fun.
Will definitely play it again when we are back in the area.
As an added bonus, there were three home that were selling "found" golf balls for 4 for a $1. What a deal.
