Nice older course with friendly folks and great Greek American food.
This is an interesting course with different 9s. The 1st 9 starts with 5 par 4s, a par 5, and another par 4. This nine was built in 1920 & perhaps that makes it more suitable for bump & run. The greens are stickier than they appear to roll though. The back 9 was built at a different time and has more elevation variation. These greens are more receptive to short iron shots. Interestingly the back 9 has 4 par 5s for ladies, one being 399y. That makes it par 74. Holes 7, 11, & 14 are challengingly tee shots from the black tees. Note #7 is a blind shot from the tee, beware of drives bombing you as you set up for your approach shot. Limited water and no sand leave the tall rough as one of the course's main defenses.
Another interesting thing, the scorecard notes 5 somes are okay M-Th only... only.
Garmin GPS works here, though irons seemed to go longer than expected here, so consider clubbing down when between clubs.
If you have time, lunch or dinner at Elaine's at the course adds to your experience. We recommend the gyros. Yum!
Perfect day of golf
We totally enjoyed our round at Quail Dunes as the weather was cool, the course was in amazing shape, the pace of play was fast, and the price was very affordable. Highly recommend this course as we will be going back!
Great value for the dollar
This was the course that I played growing up and they have made many changes for the better. I was shocked how little play was on the course. Temps were pushing 100 but very little play for fathers day.
This it a short course but demands being straight off the tee and precision on your approach shots.
Worth the trip to play this eastern colorado hidden gem.
Surprisingly good golf course !
The course has a nice flow up and down hills and through some very interesting dunes on the back nine. Played the back tees and it was a fairly challenging test with just enough wind to get your attention. The fairway grass was excellent , as were the greens , although they were rolling a bit too slow. The service was perfectly friendly . The clubhouse area has a timeless and welcoming feel. I didn't score very well , so have to go back and play better next time. Play it , you'll like it.
Great course!
Great course, friendly staff, delicious homemade food, and great pace! I drive from Loveland to play here regularly and am never dissappointed! Make sure to check this gem out!
Well worth the effort to play here
Quail Dunes is very good course to play, when in the area. As a matter of fact, it is worth driving to from east Denver to avoid the slow pace of play at the Denver courses. The two nines are very distinct in their layout with the front having rather mild greens and the back nine greens having a lot of character, I.e., undulation, shelves and interesting undulation.
Make the effort to play here.
Making progress
Have always loved this course, through good course conditions as well as when conditions could have been better. Drought or drown, as drown has been this spring's theme, this course grows fonder on me each time I visit. Course could use a large dose of bug spray currently, so hopefully the City of Fort Morgan can budget this in soon. Otherwise, I look forward to my next road trips out there.
great fall golf
What a beautiful fall day to play 18. Course make you fell like you are in the country with beautiful fall colors, long green fairways with plenty of places to get in trouble. Staff was very friendly and we enjoyed this course , we will go back. Great price for a great day!!
nice course, greens need attention
nice course, I have played it twice last year. The greens were rough, several of them had areas of no grass. Good value though for the price.
Back after 30 years
Played on a Monday, got passed by a single on 12. Colorado is in a long term drought and the greens show that , as do all the other courses we have played this year. Great staff in the pro shop, knew my name when I said I had made an online reservation. No drink cart :-(. They have added some challenges ( fairways cut differently) fairways in great condition and 1 st cut of rough manageable. If I lived closer I would play there regularly.
Shorter for intermediate players, but deceptively challenging.
Living in Denver, this course is a bit of a haul. The trip was worth it, though. At first glance, it looks pretty short and straightforward from the parking lot, but when you are playing, it is very interesting. Almost all of the tee boxes and greens are not on the same level, and the greens are pretty angular, so you will go up and down clubs quite a bit from the distances you are out. Another drawback (city boy 1st world problems) is that there is no signal for those who use range finders on AT&T smartphones. Since the course is relatively short, it's an easy walk, the back more than the front. If you hit into the native plants, just drop another, lol. Even if you find your ball, chances are its going to be relatively unplayable. Very beautiful, overall. Bring bug spray.
Great course out of the city
Its a great layout, just like all courses this time of year. Needs to be water on some parts of the greens and fairways. Course has very good layout with doglegs and rolling hills on most of the holes.
Staff was very friendly and I look forward to going back in the near future.
Good layout w/ accuracy over power.
Fairways and rough nice and healthy. The greens look like parts of them are about to die. All but one green was brown and sandy with little grass. Course layout and staff were great, but the greens might not make it through the season?
Ft Morgan Muni better description than Quail Dunes
This is a short Muni course 1 1/2 hours from Denver. It was early season so I give them a break for the course condition. Not a scenic area or course. Small mounded greens could be interesting if fast and smooth. Very open fairly short course. New carts and a well stocked pro shop indicate they may be trying to improve. No way this is worth the drive from Denver to play this one. Maybe if you were traveling across I 76 and wanted to break up the drive.
Fun, Old Country Course
An interesting course that you can tell was built in two different time eras. The front 9 is short with lots of par 4s. And the back 9 has more of a traditional configuration with par 4s, par 3s and par 5s. The rolling terrain makes this course somewhat challenging as every hole/tee box is either elevated or the fairway rolls.
Short and accurate. Laid back, country golf atmosphere.
