Gem on the Plains
This was my first time at Quail dunes, playing it since it was listed on the Colorado golf, Passport. IT off around 11 AM, and the course was pretty wide-open, so I never encountered anyone in front of me or waiting on me for a piece of clay. I actually finished the round in two hours and 40 minutes.
Most of the front nine was a lot of out and back holes with the exception of seven through nine. The greens ,as well as the fairways were in very good condition, and with all the rain lately very green, and the rough was healthy, but not too healthy.
I must admit that I enjoyed the back nine more than that front nine, lots of elevated tee boxes, and good hole layouts.
It looked like the snack bar area hadn’t been open in a few months, possibly, so don’t go to the course hungry, as there was limited snacks, and drinks. I would gladly make the drive out the Fort Morgan from Denver again any time to play Quail dunes.
Also, the folks in the pro shop were extremely friendly and helpful with everything, see you guys next time.
Could have been better
The course was in okay shape. I thought for how much rain we got this year that the course/grass greens fairways would have been amazing, but that wasn’t the case. Fairways for the most part were pretty good, but the greens were pretty terrible IMO. You do get what you pay for thou…this place is cheap but fun. I doubt I’ll be going back this year thou.
best value for your dollar
A bit of a drive but you wont be disappointed. The staff is friendly and accomodating and the course is in great shape!
An hour away, but worth it!
I love playing the Dunes. Rarely do you feel the urgency of players behind you. They repaved the cart paths so they're no longer bumpy and rough. The staff are extremely friendly and courteous. This is a great course for intermediate as there are many hills, but that's what also makes it a fun challenge. I am a beginner and was able to not get extremely frustrated, and completed 18 holes. I just hope it doesn't become to well known and lose the calm, serene atmosphere.
Always Fun!!
Pace of play was slowed by the group ahead of us. But they were older folks and had some obvious ailments. To be expected. Was really no problem.
I ALWAYS ENJOY THIS COURSE!!
Quail dunes
The course is improving every day. The always terrific staff did not dissappoint
Had to get out of Denver
I live in Downtown Denver and am thrilled with my overall experience. The drive on a late Sunday morning was 75-80 minutes and my destinationwas worth it. The course is very straight with 3-4 holes that have dog legs. Lots of cuttable corners for longer hitters and not to far for shorter hitters. The property uses its hills very well and doesn't feel unnecessarily challenging. Very affordable which was my main reason for choosing this course. Next time I come here it will be to play a very fun course. I shot 81 w/ 3 3 putts and 4 drops.
Rough fairways and greens
Cart was dirty and the seat was ripped.
Fairways and greens seemed to be well groomed but there were lots of patches of bare sand on both (every hole). I'm hoping the staff turns this around because I really enjoy playing here.
Little repairs needed
I understand with the weather that we have had but some fairways are bare and putting greens need airaided and sanding.
Nice Day
We usually don’t play golf on a Saturday due to overall busy courses. Quail Dunes had some midday openings so we played here. Grass was lush, a bit longer than normal here. As in other reviews, some large fairway bare patches on certain holes - winter must have been rough. Staff always very friendly; good value on pricing. Saw one turkey feeding on the course.
