About
The Gold Course from Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is the only 18-hole course at the facility. Designed by Frank Hummel, the course opened in 1959 and used to include the 9 holes of the Blue Course as the front nine. Currently however, both the Gold and the Blue are separate courses. The landscape of the Gold is hilly and seven ponds create a beautiful atmosphere while also adding challenging water hazards to eleven holes. Although the entire course is scenic, the 12th hole is considered to have the most picturesque views. Its elevated tee offers gorgeous vistas of the majestic Rocky Mountains. Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills is known not only for its gorgeous scenery, it has also received acclaim from golf publications such as Golf Digest.

Great day at Hyland Hills
I hadn’t played the gold course in several years. It was in great condition and really enjoyed it
Didn't get to play
So I know the course cannot control weather conditions and my round was canceled due to snow still being on the course. But what they can control is contacting the people who have tea times there and letting them know in a timely manner that they're not going to be open.
Course Closed
Made a Tee Time. Drove 1.5 hours to play and get to the golf course and it was closed. No email or phone call to let us know. Just a rude awakening when we show up to a closed golf course. Total bummer. Still waiting on a refund for the round we could not play. Garbage Customer Service..
Frustrated - No notification course was closed
Frustrated the tee time confirmation email did not include a reminder to contact the course for closure information. My wife and I are new to fall / winter golfing. Courses were open on the south end of Denver. We assumed Hyland Hills was also open if they let us make a tee time. We drove 40 minutes up north to find the course closed. Frustrated by understand. Would appreciated better communications.
Course closed and no notification
The course was closed and all four in our party were not notified. We wasted our time driving to the course to find out it was closed. Will not be returning again.
Great Value, left stranded
Great course for the money but didn't realize that at the turn of the gold course you are super far from the clubhouse... made for a long walk as it got dark but at least got a raincheck.

I’ve played this course a couple of times and always enjoy it. My only complaint was with the number of leaves on the course. I know it’s that time of year so it is what it is but our group lost a few balls/ spent a lot of time looking for balls that were still in play. Still think this is my favorite public course within 20min of downtown Denver!
Nice design, grumpy staff
This was my first time playing this course and I was very pleasantly surprised. The design of the holes was challenging and kept you thinking. Conditions were generally good, but they hadn't blown or vacuumed leaves (early November) so finding your ball was challenging even in the middle of the fairway or around greens! Lots of people were wandering around looking for their balls, which slowed play. We found a bunch sitting out in plain sight! Routing was also curious, with significant distance between greens and tees at times and the Gold intermingled with the Blue course. Views of the mountains were sublime. Staff was curt at best/gruff in some cases. #9 finishes far from the clubhouse, so if you want to just play 9, pick the Blue course.
Great Day on the Course
It's been 20 or so years since I played Hyland Hills, but I certainly won't wait that long to play there again. The gold course provided a tough challenge, but was a fair test. The downgrade in off-course amenities isn't really fair as the course was taking covid precautions and had almost all non-essential things shut down. Great day overall.
