Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - South Par-3 Course
About
The South Par-3 Course is one of two par-3, public golf courses that Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills offers. In total there are four courses, varying in length and size, at Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills. Unlike the 7-hole North Par-3 Course, the South Par-3 has 9 holes and it is 1,060 yards from its longest tees. The course is quite challenging for a par-3. Water hazards come into play on four of the nine holes. It offers excellent practice for those wanting to improve their short game as it tests several different handicaps. Although less demanding than the 18-hole Gold Course, the South Par-3 is a great short course.

Good Wedge practice
The course was great for wedge practice. The greens were just aerated, but can’t fault them for that. The course itself is very nice for the price. Waaay too many people though. Also, the tee boxes might be dangerous considering other players (definitely not me) are often skulling balls over the greens.
Good course, great value
Course layout is good, plenty of obstacles to battle outside of myself of course. Good pace of play with the randoms I got paired up with. Great value and easy to play in under 90 minutes. Recommend to those willing to learn their short game, although a couple of the holes were close to 200 yards out. Only downside was due to us getting the the 7am tee time and the greens were not kept up with the blowing away of the leaves.
Won’t be back
Booked online with a cart, told us we couldn’t use one on the par 3 and all other courses were. I can’t walk that distance so we had to cancel our tee time and now I have to jump through hoops with golf now to get my money back
Tee boxes being worked on
The tee boxes are being repaired and therefore you have to tee off from pads in front of the boxes. So the holes are all about 50 yards. But they still charge full price. Wait a month or two and I am sure it will be better. But right now it isn’t worth it.
First time golfing in Colorado
Visiting from Tucson Az was amazing course super friendly pro shop dudes definitely will come and play a full 18 one day
Challenging course
This was a fun little course. Has more water, sand and harsh rough then most any course we have played in Colorado. The tee boxes could have been in better shape, but it is a chipping course, so it was to be expected. We are going to return. If you can master this course, you can take a lot of shots off your game.
South Par 3
Great day for golf. Tee boxes need some work. Greens are in great shape.
Definitely a beginners course.
I knew a par 3 course was nothing to get excited over but my brother is very much a raw beginner so we didn’t want anything to intimidating for him. Needless to say this will challenge your short short game to the max as the greens were super tiny and quite a few obstacles to navigate around. Hole 8 green was seriously surrounded by bunkers. I never seen anything like that. Now this course is the baby course of the main Hyland Hills course and I would imagine/hope that one is upkept very well. The lil par 3 was rather rough to say the least. It is what it is. Just a par 3 course for beginners.
The carts were nice
Clubhouse was great and the staff were great as well. The directions on this golfnow app were wrong and sent us to a sketchy neighborhood. It was about a 5 min detour so be away of that.
Fun course for beginners
Played the South Par 3 course for our first time playing a full 9 holes with our 10 year old son. The staff was friendly, the course was fun and challenging for beginners but not overwhelming. A fun mix of hills, water hazards, sand traps, etc.
Worst golf experience ever
I’m writing this in the parking lot at this course, my tee time was 11:50 and it’s currently 12:27. I was a solo who only got through 2 holes before getting stuck behind a duo who were stuck behind a group of 6, who were on hole 3’s tee box taking pictures as they waited for the duo in front of them to finish putting. This is an executive course, clearly people treat it that way. And because I booked through GolfNow, they couldn’t offer me a refund when I got back to the pro shop after doing a lap around all 9 holes (all backed up). Their overselling of tee times cost me an afternoon on the golf course and for anyone who golf’s and looks forward to getting out all week, we expect better.
