Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills - South Par-3 Course

About
The South Par-3 Course is one of two par-3, public golf courses that Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills offers. In total there are four courses, varying in length and size, at Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills. Unlike the 7-hole North Par-3 Course, the South Par-3 has 9 holes and it is 1,060 yards from its longest tees. The course is quite challenging for a par-3. Water hazards come into play on four of the nine holes. It offers excellent practice for those wanting to improve their short game as it tests several different handicaps. Although less demanding than the 18-hole Gold Course, the South Par-3 is a great short course.

Challenging course
This was a fun little course. Has more water, sand and harsh rough then most any course we have played in Colorado. The tee boxes could have been in better shape, but it is a chipping course, so it was to be expected. We are going to return. If you can master this course, you can take a lot of shots off your game.
South Par 3
Great day for golf. Tee boxes need some work. Greens are in great shape.
Definitely a beginners course.
I knew a par 3 course was nothing to get excited over but my brother is very much a raw beginner so we didn’t want anything to intimidating for him. Needless to say this will challenge your short short game to the max as the greens were super tiny and quite a few obstacles to navigate around. Hole 8 green was seriously surrounded by bunkers. I never seen anything like that. Now this course is the baby course of the main Hyland Hills course and I would imagine/hope that one is upkept very well. The lil par 3 was rather rough to say the least. It is what it is. Just a par 3 course for beginners.
The carts were nice
Clubhouse was great and the staff were great as well. The directions on this golfnow app were wrong and sent us to a sketchy neighborhood. It was about a 5 min detour so be away of that.
Fun course for beginners
Played the South Par 3 course for our first time playing a full 9 holes with our 10 year old son. The staff was friendly, the course was fun and challenging for beginners but not overwhelming. A fun mix of hills, water hazards, sand traps, etc.
Worst golf experience ever
I’m writing this in the parking lot at this course, my tee time was 11:50 and it’s currently 12:27. I was a solo who only got through 2 holes before getting stuck behind a duo who were stuck behind a group of 6, who were on hole 3’s tee box taking pictures as they waited for the duo in front of them to finish putting. This is an executive course, clearly people treat it that way. And because I booked through GolfNow, they couldn’t offer me a refund when I got back to the pro shop after doing a lap around all 9 holes (all backed up). Their overselling of tee times cost me an afternoon on the golf course and for anyone who golf’s and looks forward to getting out all week, we expect better.
Staff mixed on whether dehydration and heat stroke in guests is ok
Father’s Day and golf seem like a pretty normal thing. Was shocked that there was no water at the start or middle of a par 3 course… you have families out here that are trying to celebrate their dads and spend time together. The sun and heat was very intense and when we got to the 6th hole the water jug was empty. Called the pro shop and barely got an audible ‘I’ll let maintenance know’ as the response. Clearly maintenance did not get the call. Called back and we were given the number to the drink cart. Called the drink cart and while the employee was kind enough, she said that the pro shop knows that the bev cart can’t go to the south par 3 course and seemed shocked that the water jug was empty with the day being as hot as it was. There was zero urgency until I was rinsing my body off in the bathroom by the sink to try to cool down quickly. Thankfully the girl working at the driving range brought me five bottle of cold water, which was so needed, but too late. Beware when going out on the par 3 course on a hot day, which should be a fun family adventure, but you aren’t really worth their time or money since it’s way off in a corner and they don’t care if you pass out or not.
Hyland Par 3
I was a little confused because I paid the full amount on the app which said cart included. When I got to to the course I had to pay an additional 34$ just to ride not walk. This ended up being as expensive as playing a full 18 at a course. I paid almost 60$ to play 9 holes and it was a par 3 course. Very disappointing.
Great par3 for the $
Some odd areas to drive if you take a cart but overall a very fun and well thought out course
Good Course
Fun little par 3. Biggest complaint I have is that I don't trust a lot of the distances (there's no way hole #1 is 80 yards), but there are a few fun holes on this course and it is a great value.
