A pretty girl who has let herself go.
This is a nice layout. It has three different nine holes which all play a bit differently. But they have let the course go. There is no grass anywhere, you constantly have bare lies. Even in the fairway. I paid 35 bucks on a hot deal and was allowed to play 27 holes so the value was OK but I do believe you can find nicer courses elsewhere. From the blue tees it is a thinking man’s course however as you can leave driver in the bag on several holes
Disappointing Conditions
Last year I played Blue Fox Run several times last August through late October, and the conditions did improve from summer through fall. It was disappointing to find the course in the shape it was today.
Possibly I saw the Red/Blue at what may be its lowest ebb. The Red is a good layout, the Blue excellent. Fair and marginally playable condition is how I would describe the Red; the Blue Nine is now one on which I cannot keep a ‘normal’ score. By that I mean the conditions were poor enough on several holes—fairways, rough, and greens—to the extent that the lies were bad when they shouldn’t have been and the greens un-puttable. So any score ends up being unrealistic, usually toward the bad side. The net effect is that the Blue, for the most part, simply isn’t playing like it was designed to play. Even if you move your ball to a preferred lie in the fairways, nothing can save the greens: there is too much bumpiness and burned out grass (if it’s even there) to cross. From holes five through eight, then, the Blue was nearly unplayable. Yes, a small majority of the holes of these nine were decent, but that’s not enough.
Let’s hope management here can pull Blue Fox Run together for the fall season (the White Course, by the way, was closed today). I can still recommend the Red Nine, as its problems are mostly in the rough on most holes, while its fairways greens and surrounds are, for the most part, playable. In fact, the greens ran smoothly and true, although you may encounter small patchiness here or there.
The Blue, on the other hand, is better skipped until it regains what used to be much better conditions, as evident last fall. The only reason I could see playing it is to work on general tee-to-green play, not to post a realistic score.
Five of the six pictures I’ve included are of the better Red Nine. After playing here today, I felt a bit depressed that a course this good has fallen a good deal farther than the typical Connecticut golf course during these tough, summer-of-2020 weather conditions. The Blue/White combination is an exciting course to play under better circumstances, and the Red is no slouch, either.

Dry
Went there the course was dry and couldn’t tell where the fairway was and ruff began. The guy at the desk was very nice try to tell me that it because we didn’t have rain this year as I look over and see them pumping water out of the river next to them. Also we couldn’t play hole 6 and 7 because it was down for repair and they had a tournament there that day so if you ask me for 49.00 bucks I wouldn’t play there again for that price one bit. Hope they can bounce back from this.

Challenging course
I played the white and blue courses. I found them very challenging. The greens We’re in very good shape with a couple that had issues. It’s been a very dry summer. I did get some good rolls in the fairway. We are glad to get outside and play during these times and grateful for the people who keep things clean and safe for us.

Complete Dump! Stop playing here!
I was out right embarrassed that I brought a friend of mine to play golf here. This was the worst dump of a golf course I’ve ever played. The seventh hole is closed that’s how trashy this places. I paid $35 and still think I should get my money back for having to have dealt with the garbage that is this golf course. Please do all of the golfers a favor, stop playing here so there’s no money going into it and it just closes closes.I was out right embarrassed that I brought a friend of mine to play golf here. No Play for Golfers
Plain and simple, this place should be closed. The $35 hot deal is 3x as much as it should be to play here. Fairways are destroyed. Nothing to do with heat, simple lack of maintenance. I will NEVER come here again. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.

Good times
The course has a nice layout
Great staff
A great place to test your golfing skills
We will get better when we can get some rain.
Poor Conditions
I've played Blue Fox a few times this summer and unfortunately it's at the point where the course is virtually unplayable. The fairways (and rough) are completely dried out, greens and tee boxes are in incredibly poor condition, and the ground is rock solid on most parts of the course. It's to the point where it's not fun to golf here anymore. The staff are very respectful and friendly, but I will not be returning until the course is maintained more appropriately.

Poor Conditions
I've played Blue Fox a few times this summer now and unfortunately it's at the point where the course is almost unplayable. Fairways are completely dried up, greens are poorly maintained, and the ground is rock solid. The staff are incredibly respectful but it's simply not fun to play on a course is in such bad shape.

Worse maintained course I’ve ever played
Blue Fox Run has 3, nine hole courses named Red, White and Blue. All are relatively short and flat and are separated by the Farmington River that bisects the west Blue course from the White and Red east courses. That said, we played Red than White today. Blue was closed for whatever reason. The Red course, which is very short, at 2723 yards from the tips, was the worse conditioned course I’ve ever played on. First off, the tee boxes were uneven with a mix of crab grass or no grass. I had difficulty finding a level spot to stand. We were lucky to find green grass on the fairways, and where there was grass it was mostly crab grass. Granted, Connecticut is currently experiencing drought conditions, but I’ve played weeklysince May, every week at different courses, and all were in great condition. Not su Blue Fox. Not only was there very little grass in the fairways, the bunkers, or should I say what used to be bunkers, were one third sand and two thirds grass. The greens were somewhat okay but some were burnt out with brown and green spots. A tropical storm came through Connecticut a week ago but the course has not been cleaned up much. On the Red 2nd, a dead tree and branches were still lying on the ground just off the putting surface. I could go on but can’t. It’s too painful to describe. What once was a decent course has declined to nothing more than a cow pasture…. minus the cows.

Blue Fox Run Avon CT
Weather has been tough so i can give the greenskeeper a bit of a pass but all in all the greens, fairways and tee boxes were in pretty rough shape compared to other local public courses i have played. The on course signage is lacking, if you are new to this course you have no clue where the next tee box is in far too many instances. A simple fix but clearly not worth the time and effort on the part of the ownership. Too bad because it is a nice little course with some fun holes. I will return as i always do.

What happened to blue fox? First time back in years and man has it gone downhill. Conditions were extremely poor....fairways rock hard (dirt in spots), greens are a mess, tee boxes have weeds everywhere. Staff was friendly - that was the one positive. Hope to see someone come in and fix it up - probably won’t be back soon.

Nice day
I’m not a golf snob, I’m a realist. We’re in a drought in CT and also just dealt with 85 mph winds that took power for almost 5 days. So, the course was dried out and they lost a ton of trees. However, trees and limbs were not in playing areas and they had a team of guys pumping water from the Farmington River into the ponds for irrigation. The staff there, starting with Mike is great. The course was in as good shape as possible. I enjoy every round there and they do their best In upkeep. Good place unless you’re a snob I guess.

Horrible conditions
This place is in horrific shape. The fairways are either completely burned out or grown out. There's not a single well maintained fairway on the course. The greens were burned out in spots. The 7th hole on the white course was closed and no advance warning was given.
This place needs serious work or it's going the way of Tower Ridge.
