Richter Park Golf Course
About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Cant beat it for the price
Awesome shape for how much play it gets. Super affordable. Nice views along the water
Richter Sunday Round
It was a perfect day for golf. It was a little slow pace in front 9, but were able to enjoy the great views and relax in the shade. The park rangers apologized for the pace and offered credit for 9, if wanted to come back. The course was in good shape and had some challenging holes for an average golfer. Had a good pace on the back and got in a nice flow.
Would recommend to all golfers.
Beautiful course!
This course checks all the boxes. Its challenging but fair. Fun. The views are beautiful. It's well maintained. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The clubhouse is spotless. Would play there all the time if I lived in the area.
Disappointed
Have played this course 4 or 5 times, have always enjoyed the scenery and the layout. Today though I was pretty surprised by the shape the course was in, especially the greens. Greens played very uneven and there were many ball marks, diseased areas etc. Areas of a few fairways were in bad shape too. I don’t think I’ll play this course anytime soon, unless they fix these issues.
Great layout, poor conditions
The only complaint I have is about the greens. Every green was very patchy, I didn't have a single putt that the ball didn't bounce or get kicked in a different direction. Other than that, every hole has its special challenges, beautiful Course, great fairways and a tough rough. Would wait til the greens are fixed to return.
No longer a top course in the area
We were the first foursome out, so pace was great till we got to the back nine and watched and played through foursomes of women who were very nice and were part of a group of 9 hole players that were now in front of us for the back nine. About half the greens are in VERY BAD shape, Must be a fungus or some other disease as they were absurd to play on. Tee boxes are good, but it had rained the night before and the drainage in some areas was awful, Always frustrating to loose balls in the middle of a landing area. On the tenth tee, that is now a par three, a ball from the range landed between us as we were by our carts next to the fence. Scary place to be.
Course has gone downhill.
So today was the last time I will play this track what used to be a top 50 public course in the country. I have never seen fairways and greens in worse shape. Each green rolled at a different pace. Half of them were aireted or had massive massive craters. Worst $75 I have spent on a round in a while. Plus the cart provided had zero brakes, I was going down a hill full brakes and it was scary, if was a wet day I would be dead and wouldn't be able to write this review.
Greens were in bad shape. Bumpy and slow. I would have expected better conditions this early in the season. Several holes on the back 9 Were Way too wet for play and bowls landing got plugged in the middle of the fairway.
So this time around it wasn’t worth the price. Otherwise it was ok.
Needs some touch ups before summer
Course and layout as always is great. First time playing this year at Richter the greens were a little less then desirable. A lot of burnt out areas on a few greens. I hope the staff will fix them up and get them to the level anyone who has played here before is used to seeing. .
Such an awesome course
Love this place. It’s so underrated. Still early in season so the course can only get in better shape
