One of the toughest holes here is the second, a long par-4 with woods to the left, more trees on the right, and two large bunkers guarding the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

The fifth is a gem of a par-five, starting with a terrific downhill tee shot and a view of Hartford in the distance. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Nine is a classic uphill par-4; its fairway doglegs left, then heads for this relatively narrow green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/01/2024

Quick 18
Played Friday walked 18 played in foursome we finished in 3 1/2hrs played moved right along
Confused
The course is nice, and the play is nice too.
However in my opinion and experience some of the holes were a nightmare to find the next one. They don’t have signs that are clear enough to get to the next hole. Other than that I enjoyed playing there
Course was in good shape for early in the season. Greens were very fast and in better shape then previous yrs
Not for me
This is a neighborhood golf course with a lot of switch back holes. It was fairly crowded the day I played and the amount of people hitting the wrong fairways and yelling fore does not make for a relaxing deck. The pace of play was OK but the course conditions were not great. The greens were OK along with the two boxes but the fairways need major attention along with the bonkersThe staff and the clubhouse were very friendly and the cart girl came around quite regularly.
It is just not a relaxing round when golf balls are flying all over the place and on about half of the fairways you are waiting on the tee box for a group who isn’t on the hole you are playing to clear the fairway.
This place might be ok during the week to play but on weekends when it is crowded you better keep an eye out for plenty of wayward shots and some Boisterous golfers.
Good Value
East Hartford’s golf course is set in a quiet neighborhood in the northeast corner of town, about a mile off Burnside Avenue (Rt. 44). Its layout offers a mix of short and longer par-4s, six doglegs, two ponds that are in play, strong and deep greenside bunkering, moderately wide fairways as a rule, and some hilly terrain changes on the west end. The par-3’s run moderately long, but the trio of par-5’s hold the most strategic interest, given that they are relatively long, sometimes crossed by streams, and feature varied hazards around their greens. Eighteen is the best of these, closing the round on a raised green guarded by four traps set to the front and left side. The course balances, as well, a range of green shapes (some very long), both uphill and downhill holes, and an open, parkland style that still has a few tight driving holes where position off the tee becomes critical.
Conditioning disappointed today, largely due to dry recent weather conditions. The firm greens tend to roll out excessively on downslopes, and to an extreme on the third, where straight uphill putts would roll up and then backwards, and all of our downhill putts some seventy feet down and off the green. Yes, they were hit very softly. I noticed that on the twelfth green, into which golfers hit wedges, there were zero ball marks. Fairways were patchy, tees decent, roughs okay. The other greater-Hartford area courses I played this week were in better shape. It is early spring, and EHGC should round into shape before long.
Pace of play was on the slow side, yet walking this course, set–as it is–in the Connecticut River Valley, was easy. The course, a good value, was in very good condition when I played here early last summer, so I’ll try it again in a month or so.

Better than Expected
For the price ($23/walk18) the course was in nicer shape than I expected. Some areas of real wetness that made approach shots difficult. One bunker was in good condition and one (9th hole I think) was more like clay. The two people I walked with were great and I think we got around in about 4 hours (on a Friday). A couple of switchback holes, particularly at the end of the back 9, that I don't really like.
Golf in February.
Surprisingly nice course conditions for a mid February round. Very walkable course, and a great value.
Mid-week escape.
A nice, walkable course with tee times available whenever I can just drop by during the week. Only caution…If we’ve had rain, give it 3 days to dry out.
Enjoyable day
A good value. Considering the recent rain, course was in pretty good shape. Greens were in good condition. One of the better "munis" that the lovely and I have played.
Open Layout with Good Variety
Having now played East Hartford for the second time (the first was in late June), I was impressed again by the quality of this layout. The course’s greens stand out, as they roll and pitch with great variability, keeping you on your toes–you may also be gnashing your teeth a bit–on nearly every putting surface. There are standout holes on each nine; the par-4s, in particular, frequently play long and tough; the par-5’s are easier, but still the fifth and eighteenth will test your shotmaking skills. Many of the holes are straightforward, but enough variety is injected into the works to keep you engaged.
The course was not in the same condition as it was in June, prior to the drought. Greens were good, nonetheless, but everything else was below average, and the fairways especially will need some work to get back to where they were. I experienced a few substandard lies on the rough, too, that were not typical of what I saw here before. Overall, conditioning was a bit below average.
Pace of play, unfortunately, was on the slow side.
What I like best about East Hartford is this track’s generally open feel, even though there are dense woods around the course’s perimeter. There are a few tight holes here, in truth, but it’s typically possible to advance the ball toward the hole in most cases, as ending up “in jail” is usually the result of a widely errant shot.
