Play was slow because of 4 twosomes going out a head of us
Nice Course
Great day for this challenging but not too difficult course. Course is in great condition and will return soon to play.
Same Old Wheel
Same old wheel really. Played the Red Course and with all the rain the usual spots were wet and squishy but the greens were in great shape. Got paired up with a pair of beginners so they were slow but it kept us in pace with everyone til the back where we got hung up on a few holes.
Great course for the money
Really enjoy playing this course. People who work there are nice and friendly.
excellent time
played the red course. the greens are in excellent shape as are the fairways. some tee boxes r shot but the overall experience was excellent. friendly starter who took the time to explain the course. really cant say enough about the value. went out as a twosome and was not forced to join other twosomes. overall I can't wait to get back there again.
wide open
Lot of open fairways, greens are great, very playable for an old timer like myself!
deceptively challenging
a bunch of blind approaches, and a couple long par 3's.
greens in great shape and fairly consistent.
Grumpy Starter
Grumpy starter for some reason. I don't get it, We are their customers and the gatekeeper here is always somewhat grouchy, I've played there at least 10 times and no matter who's the starter, I seem to get negative vibes. I don't mind it really since the contact is usually less than 20 seconds and then off to a great round of golf! The course is quirky at times, The first and the tenth and 18 are big downhill off the tee and big uphill second shots to blind greens. Good course for ball hunting...
Good Value!
Everything was great except the rough was way to long. Greens and fairways in great shape. Tee boxes not so much. Great value especially as a hot deal.
Water logged
Course had standing water on numerous holes. Sand traps were pools of water. Rough was so high balls were lost just off the fairway. If staff informed us of the condition of the course I would have opted for a rain check.
Great Day
As a change of pace we played the red vs the blue at the wheel. It was in great shape. An enjoyable day.
Just OK
The course was just OK. I wouldn't pay the $51 bucks they normally charge but for $20 bucks that I paid, I would probably play it again.
Typical Municipal Course
Greens are quite slow but roll well. Several holes have blind shots to the greens. Good fairways, a few tee boxes are in need of work.
Nice day at The Wheel
It was a pleasant winter day with plenty of sunshine and very little wind. Upon arriving I was given a brand new electric cart that had never been used. They recently purchase a number of new carts. This was a pleasant surprise.
I would highly recommend this course during the winter months. The cost is very reasonable.
Good shape
This course is in good shape for the time of year. Course was clean of leaves.
Beautiful day
The course is in excellent condition with the recent rains. Early fall, the trees are just starting to turn. I had to pause and take pictures. Attached. Fairchild Wheeler is our favorite course - a nice balance of interesting holes, friendly staff and a great value.
Several uphill challenging shots.
The greens were in great condition. Long par fours.
This course was in good condition
We have a lot of fun to play under great condition on this course, well maintained
Good for the Price
I used GolfNow to get a great price - $30/each, including cart on a Sunday afternoon.
The course is in fair shape. The greens were spongy and slow. I'm guessing they hadn't been mowed because it was so hot and they didn't want to burn them up. And, they had the sprinklers running all afternoon - very distracting. Also, most of the greens are very small. On some of the longer holes (several par 4's over 400 yards), it's a real challenge to hit an approach onto the tiny greens. Otherwise, it's pretty straight forward. It's hard to lose a golf ball because it's pretty open and there are very few hazards (no water to speak of).
The staff is pleasant, especially the young man at the grill in the snack shack. There was no beverage cart.
We'll play it again because of the price and tee time availability. We also want to try the Black Course.
I played the red course on 1/1/17 greens were very slow but the price was right weather was good had fun the only problem was the golf carts were programmed to stay on cart paths only very very annoying made it inaccessible, need to change that!!!
