Golfer Reviews
Worth the Drive
Although the Rookery is far away from DE seashore and may not be as scenic as other golf courses in the area, the course plays very wide open and fair, and appeared largely in very good late-season shape. Some places on greens could use a bit of work but overall a very enjoyable round.
Nice Round
Course was cart path only which happens with a lot of rain. Corse in good shape
Usually plays faster
Single stuck behind 3 foursomes and a fivesome. Very slow
The Rook!
Good course, great price and nice people running it. Beach season is an expensive time to play any where near the Delaware shore. But not at The Rookery, even if it is a flat, pedestrian track. Hit’em straight, make a few putts and a low score is possible. Price is right. Enjoy it.
Rookery Retry
It rained the evening before and didn't stop until 20 minutes before our tee time. The course drained well and was set up to keep everyone moving. Glad we kept our time. Our twosome was paired with a single to keep pace and he was great. The golf, course and people made a great day!
Wv visitor
After researching courses in the area and reading reviews I selected to play here while visiting my mother. Great selection. Course was in great shape . Greens were firm definitely needed some water but rolled good . Ground crew all over the course raking bunkers and cutting grass keeping the course in good shape. Definitely will play again when I come back and recommend to any visitor .
nice course
nice course but they let a 5 some play in front of us a it ruined the experience, i was tempted to go to the clubhouse and try to get a refund
A must play course
Really enjoyed this great course from start to finish. Great facilities, helpful professional staff and a great test on the course.
Tee boxes were in excellent condition and all had very helpful signage. Fairways and greens were the best I played in the area over a 2 week period. It’s a great test with some cleverly placed water hazards.
Play was a little slow but only because we were a two ball with a four ball two holes in front. They were a little wayward but having a great time. We were in no rush so able to enjoy a great day at The Rookery.
Dreadful wait times
Let me say that I appreciate that it is summer and vacationers want to get out for a round of golf and just have some fun. So perhaps they are a little less cognizant of the etiquette expected when golfing or simply, they are on holiday and don’t really care. I realize that the Rookery is located so very close to the major beach destinations and provides reasonable pricing attracting a multitude of visitors of varying degrees of skills. However, 6 hours to play in 97 degree heat is just not good. This has occurred twice now. One round on a Friday and the second on a Monday.
I like the course and its amenities. Enforcement of etiquette is an awfully difficult thing to enforce, but please try.
Uptight Manager and Staff
Staff refused to provide handicap flag and had 90-degree rule in effect even though almost no rain had fallen night before. 100- degree heat and dry as a bone conditions aside from one small puddle near the clubhouse. No water on the course. GPS on carts was locking golfers in. Saw one group pushing their cart to get it unlocked. Staff came around during the middle of back 9 to offer refunds for 9 holes. It was too little too late. Some water on the course and lifting the 90-degree rule when it was obvious the course would not be damaged by carts would have gone a long way to making our round more enjoyable. My advice is to avoid this course. It's less expensive than other nearby courses but it's no bargain. No one who worked at this course seemed very happy to be there.
course in atypically Great shape.
Greens flowed nice. Some a little hard to hold from 165 -170 out. Hit em but bounced off from on high. Still very enjoyable play.
GPS on carts a real bonus
I really like The Rookery. Easy walking course. Like all golf courses on East Coast, Rookery needs some rain. it shows. Tee boxes need help and some fairways. You can only do so much when needed rain isn't happening.
Nice Afternoon
Got a good Hot time deal in afternoon… course was in good shape… greens were really nice… a few tee boxes weren’t the best … but considering no rain course was good
