Hole seventeen can be the source of disappointment if the tee ball doesn’t land in play, but it can also be a birdie hole when it does. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 04/30/2023

charge extra
To ride alone, will charge extra 6 bucks.... for gas and "we need the carts'"" Fine
Surprise Charges at Course
I was charged an additional $5.75 to ride in the cart as a single even though NOTHING was posted on Teeoff's site for this tee time and NOTHING was posted in the Pro Shop. The person behind the counter (where I had to wait 4-5 minutes for him to get off the phone with a friend) simply slid a piece of paper at me stating that the charge was due to a shortage of carts. Now there was only 3 of us in our tee time and the other two players elected to ride together, so I was stuck with the extra charge...totally unfair.
I tried calling the Pro Shop. I was told that the $5.75 was charged in error but got nothing as to why the charge was not disclosed on Tee Off nor why nothing is formally posed in the Pro Shop in full view.

great greens
The greens and fairways were in great condition. Play was slow but managable.
Very enjoyable round
This was the first time I played this course but it will not be the last. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The course itself was in very good condition even with the amount of traffic it gets. The pace was a little slow, but considering it was a Friday, it wasn't too bad. Overall 4:30 minute round. Highly recommend this course.
Great value. Overall good conditions.
Great value. Overall good condition. Nice layout. Greens were soft. No beverage cart the entire round. It was a hot day so that was a bit of an issue.
Timberlin Golf
This is the first time this year that I have played Timberlin and it is never a disappointment. The condition of the course was very good and at a cost of $40.00 for golf and cart it’s.a deal. Always a pleasant staff to assist you.
Enjoyable course. It's an expansive layout, without many of the holes running parallel, so accuracy on your shots is required. Fairways and greens are receiving water, but the course is still playing hard and fast, and the rough is not going to catch many errant shots. It does have large greens, so you'll get plenty of chance to practice lag putting!
Great course & staff!!
Certainly one of Connecticut’s gems!!! Standards are always A+!
Timberland
Considering all the rain that we've had, the course is great shape. Really enjoy playing there
Pleasant surprise
Been looking at this place for a few months on Golfnow. I’m from Westchester County in NY and during this time of Covi-19 I’ve had to travel a bit to find a place to play. Took the 1 1/2 hour ride on a dreary day and found the course uncrowded. Was greeted by the starter Arman and immediately the day brightened up. His people skills are tremendous as I’m sure the management is well aware of. It was about 42 degrees, windy, periods of light rain and course was wet from previous rains. That may be the only negative thing I experienced. Some areas don’t drain very well. Played from the white tees and found a good mixture of short & long approach shots. Greens were in pretty good condition for the weather conditions. Would definitely come back. Course would be beautiful on a nice day!
Great people and good course
Def worth the trip. Has nice layout and nice greens w friendly staff.
Would def play again.
This is a great golf course
I've played this course off and on for 20 years. Its a great layout - challenging, fair, diverse. It's always been in very-very good condition for a public course.
Probably the best "value" I've ever played.
The staff and town have run a great/friendly operation for all 20 of those years. Thank you!
Enjoyed my round
Nice course and will play again. starts out pretty normal and after the first few holes i was thinking the course was "ok" but as the round went the more I enjoyed it. holes got more interesting and fun and by the time I was done I was telling myself I'll play here again for sure. you can pretty much hit your driver on most of the holes that are not par 3's which I really like.
Round took at most 4 hours which is great.
Very friendly staff and starter.
Can't wait to see this place when it warms up and the course is in a little better shape.still early in the season.
Damning with faint praise
I really wanted to love this course.
I saw that it was ranked among the state’s best by GA and was really excited to play. But the only thing that came to mind after I holed out on 18 was... meh.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a nice course. Parkland style, pleasant golf, good conditions, nice staff. But as I write this the day after, I really can’t remember an outstanding hole. If I was a golfer who had a regular tee time every Saturday to socialize with my buddies and use golf as an excuse to drink beer, this place would be just fine. But as a golfer who takes the game seriously, this course is very uninspiring.
Distance is a factor as well. I live an hour and a half away, and to do a 3 hour round trip for a golf course, it better be worth it. I’m sorry but no for this one. If I lived closer, sure I would play it often at the right price.
So my takeaway from this is beware of the high ratings. This is probably a case of high ranking due to enthusiasm by the locals. Which is fine and good, but not for me.
