Nice layout, great greens.
Only finished 14 holes due to rain but every green rolled fast and true, course was in much better shape than anticipated. Will definitely be back.
Good course to grab around .
Very good value. Staff was very friendly. We were a two some and finished In 3.5 hours. Good condition. Greens in good shape. Enjoy.
A nice afternoon for a round of golf
Enjoyed the two gentlemen my wife and I were paired with. Course is not long but greens were In great condition and rolled truely. A good golfnow discovery. NOTE: four wild turkeys just off second green were a pleasant surprise.
Short track w good variety
Good layout for a small track of land. Lots of variety between holes. Very silly OB markings on a few holes where the adjacent fairway is white staked (pace of play oriented). Played for $40 with cart and definitely worth the $ on a Saturday afternoon. Will return if in the area.
Extremely fast, undulating greens
A really enjoyable layout even though the greens were way above my skill level. Need to play here a lot before you figure them out. Nice mixture of holes with wide open, let it rip, fairways and tight blind shots.
Really nice par 3s
great tome
Excellent condition, ran right on schedule and rangers were making sure there were back ip through out the course
Nice day in Norwalk ct
Golf course first three holes challenge you. No driver used until third hole.
Holes 8 thru 12 nice. Back nine opens up
Need cart
The course is in good shape.
The greens are are in very good shape. In general
the course is in good shape.
We had a twosome and we played in 3 1/4 hours
in the middle of the day. That's not the norm.
good public course
Good round.
Greens roll true, break nicely/fairly.
No need for the driver 1-7.
Greens are well protected all around.
Pricey if not using golf now.
Hot Deal
Weather was overcast with a threat of rain; so course was wide-open. Greens in great shape; fairways nice; but rough was high and damp.
Only down-side was checking in at the Pro Shop. They asked if we were walking or riding; and then were in shock when I stated that this Golf Now time also came with a cart. It took them almost 15 minutes to sort out their confusion; and then we were finally on our way.
Lawn maintenance required
We had a tee time of 4:45 we were out on time. The fairways were in nice shape however if you missed them you were challenged in finding your ball there was no fairway buffer it went right to rough and that was at least 31/2 to 4 inches high and loaded with grass clumps. The greens were in good shape. There is a lot of blind tee shots as well, we were only able to get 14 of 18 in. For what it cost us to play we felt it was a little high.
Never Again....
I'm originally from the Fairfield county area and have moved to the Hartford area, so maybe I have gotten spoiled by the beautiful well manicured courses and reasonably priced greens fees in the west Hartford and farmington area; but, I had been looking forward to playing the oak hills course given it's proximity and convenience to my home town. When I checked out the website and saw the cost of the course I assumed the course would have been excellent -- I couldn't have been more wrong!! Let's put it this way, when the highlight of your round is the unreal hot dog you have at the snack shop, there's a problem-- but seriously though the hot dog was ridiculously good. To start with we were greeted by the pro in the golf shop who had an pretty nasty attitude, couldn't have been anymore cold --not looking for a hoorah welcome but at least be cordial.
The course itself looked like a backyard that hadn't been cared for in about three seasons...brown spots galore, pebbles and rocks were scattered around the fringes, the rough was so long a ball 18 inches off the fairway took minutes to locate, not to mention the ranger that called me "pal" when I accidentally drove my cart into an area that was "marked" by ropes...ie not marked at all. To be fair greens were in ok condition, certainly not great.
Overall, this course turned out to be a horrible experience!! For around 70 bucks for a round of golf, I certainly expect at the very least a well manicured course, I can deal with the attitudes but at least take care of the most important thing. If you feel like paying through your nose for a below mediocre golf course in Fairfield county, dealing with employees that have some bad attitudes then this is the place for you, but hey at least you can load up on some good hot dogs!
nice scenic, narrow front 7 holes .better than good condition
greens in championship condition!! also the best electric carts!!
Short and tight
You won't need your driver much on this short municipal track, but the fairways are tight (opens up on the back 9) and you have to be accurate with your shot placement. All the greens were sanded heavily for end-of-season maintenance, and there was no posted warning. But we enjoyed our round because we like to play fast, and most courses in this part of the country seem to play very slowly. Lots of elevation changes, blind shots and doglegs. While visiting the area, we also played Maple Moor and Lake Isle Country Club in Westchester (NY) County.Maple Moor had the best course conditions by far and they were more accommodating to players when it comes to sanding the greens -- they announced at the beginning that two holes were being sanded for the day.
Amazing Greens
The greens were fast, pure and receptive. Couldn't ask for better greens on the golf course. That being said the fairways could use a little attention. They are redoing several tee boxes. Wish this facility had a practice range. The setup is a little short for my liking maxing out around 6500. Overall not a bad experience.
Some of the best greens I've played on all year.
Greens were smooth as silk and really ran out nicely. Because it was my first time playing here (out of towner), I played D off the tee on a few holes where it would have been advisable not to. They give you a very nice book that outlines each hole, with tips on the tee ball, but unless you can drive up and see the entire fairway it still can be inadequate, especially on the front.
All in all, though, a really good course, very well maintained. A little steep in price, though, as I missed the hot deal from Golfnow and had to settle for almost standard fees.
Good pace of play for weekend
Played mid day last Sunday and finished 18 holes in 4 hours.
it all comes down to putting, and these greens really roll out well. great greens for a muni track
played yesterday with our usual traveling foresome, great deal on GolfNow.
if your palying just for fun, i'd recomend preferred lie rules in fairways, ( some people just dont fix divots )... otherwise this course is in great shape... thx to staff
Very enjoyable round
Nice mix of wide-open (3 straight par 5's) and tight (some par 4's had blind tee shots). Greens were in great shape. Tried it because I got a really good rate, but I'd love to play it again.
