This course has a very nice greens
This course has a very nice greens it was a bit chilly out and not many people out and had a excellent day of golf. The course was in good shape and they're always improving on it .if you have not played this course I recommend you give it a try
Best public course in the area
This local gem in West Norwalk doesn't get the pub it deserves. The crew keeps the course in amazing shape and the upgrades made this year make the course really shine. The greens are always in great shape and play relatively fast. The first 7 holes are tight and require precision tee shots, while the rest of the course is longer and more wide open.
Best public greens around
Course conditions are excellent, especially the greens. It is a mature course, with fully-grown trees and lush landscape, that give a constant sense of its history and is as far away from a resort-style course as you can get. The first seven holes are relatively short (although the par 3 No. 5 is 185 from the tips) and designed to reward well-placed shots and penalize misses. The placement of trees and elevation changes add challenge to these holes. From 8 through 15, there is good length (although 11 is a sharp dogleg where driver can't be used off the tee). 16 and 17 aren't especially long, but trouble looms left and right. 16's elevated green demands staying below the hole, and 17 demands staying left to avoid the guarding tree on the right. Bombers can get near the green on 18, but there is serious trouble left and right. The was considerable renovation over the past year, although it wasn't as dramatic as it could have been had the city supported it more. The driving range plan was unfunded and still does not exist, but there is a putting green and chipping green for warm ups, and both aspects will be vital to a good score. While the bunkers are well designed and well placed, the sand is not as soft as it could or should be. The price, even for out of owners, is considerably less than comparable town courses in the area. All of that makes for an entertaining and pleasing round. Much preferred over publinks in Greenwich, Westport, Fairfield.
Nice town Course
Played late in season on a decently maintained local public. Course in great shape from rain and warm temps, so played well. Rough was high due to rain so locating balls was n ot always a piece of cake, but not too many leaves. Plays true to rating and fun course. Always end up here playing right up to closing, but that is really schedule not course speed.
Nioce place to play
Non-existent rangers
Started on hole 1 with a ranger sitting on the hill letting us know when to hit. One of us hit into the trees on the left, but ranger could care less. He was busy on his cell; very unfriendly; useless. We had a foursome in front of us--beginners who were teaching each other with 3 open holes in front of them. the pace was terrible and no rangers to be seen.
Nice experience
I played there many years ago. Nice course. Friendly staff. I would go back
Rude Starter and Ranger
I'm sure most of us had experienced showing up late on our tee time by 8 min or more at least once, we know we should be at the course at least 20 min. before our tee time. There I said we're 8 min. late.
I prepare myself to get bump at a later tee time or even to pay extra for playing on different time slot. The guy at the counter took our payment with no issues. I know for facr that there are available tee time as I saw on Golf Now app. We load up our bag, and even gave a tip to a guy who helped us.
As we approach the 1st tee I hand the starter my receipt, and the second sermon of that Sunday starts. I told myself just let it go coz it was my fault for showing up late. I said sorry numerous times but he kept on. My inner self me would like to say something back, but I held back just notnto euin my day. I've booked hundreds of tee times through GN and one thing that will not stop me from writing reviews, is not the course conditiions, the price or the facility, but rude people I will do it in a heart beat. I don't want anyone to experience what I went through. Writing a review is where I voice out my frustration. I hope someone listen.
Gem
Well maintained, enjoyable course. Played in under 4.5 hours.. excellent for a public course.
Only issue is with the prohibited areas for the cart...not particularly obvious.
Great value
Fast greens, challenging and different holes. Very solid value for the $.
Improvements
A four and a half hour round on a Sunday used to be an impossibility here but that just happened. The course has made many fine improvements and it shows. Greens were in stellar shape and this was the most enjoyable round I have played here.
Nice course
I would say the course is fun to play, views are nice, in good shape, and I would recommend it.
Great course
Great course and unbeatable price through the golfnow app ($33) The greens were in excellent condition. Certain areas are under construction which was a little annoying but overall it's a great course. I would not only play here again but would make it my "home course" if I lived closer by
Tricky Course but Nice Layout
Its a stretch but it has a feel of Augusta. Old Trees and well establish Course. Better if you get paired with a local who knows the course. Many blind shots and dog legs. There are a couple of holes that are under repair but almost done. The greens are in great shape as well.
Slow pace of play
In a foursome, 2 walking, 2 very good golfers in a cart. Took almost 3 hours to play 9. Teed off at 500 PM. No rangers. We waited on every hole. This course is always slow but thought later in the day it would be ok. It was not.
