The twelfth hole provides a strong strategic challenge that can’t be bypassed. What you shouldn’t miss, as well, is this hole’s beauty. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 10/24/2024

Many fairways at Portland plunge downward on their way to their greens. The first certainly exemplifies this, making for a tricky approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/25/2023

The second hole, on the other hand, moves directly upward from tee to green. Here is a look at the green complex at two. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/25/2023

The 10th: Short par-4 that can be driven, but that’s a hard risk-reward proposition given what lies behind the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

A commanding hole in the form of a Switchback, twelve is also aesthetically impressive. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Sixteen:one of the inward half’s two excellent par-5s; its green is fortified by a pair of yawning bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

I truly enjoyed playing this course.
This course is truly a gem for the money. It was somewhat challenging but great for a moderate player.
Great drainish. Cosidering all the rain we have had, no standing water observed.
Well maintained golf course. Challenging yet not overwhelming for the average golfer. I am 74 but was able to play this course from the white tees(shot an 83) . It is not a long hitters course, but one that requires accuracy and carefull placement of shots. Course strategy is required. The greens were in excellent shape and a consistent pace throughout.
Connecticut does have a hiddem gem.
Wow, what can I say. This course is great. Consistent greens with level tee boxes. The pace of play gets better after the first three holes and it's just great. Great price for amazing conditions.
Worth every dollar. Course is in great shape.
Enjoyed my first round at PGC this year with one exception.
The course really needs a Marshall to keep things moving.
Painfully slow just about 50 min on one three hole stretch.
Recommend no walkers before noon.
Liked this course, well maintained with nice greens.
If it's your first time playing here there are some blind shots, trees in the middle of the fairways, and plenty of doglegs. A premium is put on your tee ball on this course. Some local knowledge would go along way to playing here. Played from the blues tees riding in a cart and enjoyed a round in 4 hours. The club pro was very friendly and gave us some insight to the course. Wouldn't hesitate to play here again.
Great Place To Play
The course is in great shape and plays very well. Many different tees so all level of golfers can have a great time. The greens were excetsional. The course is very hilly so a cart helps alot.
Nice course; challenging
Very pretty course. Challenging due to hills-- you better know how to hit uphill, downhill and sidehill lies. Pace of play was very good for a weekend.
Course is in great shape, greens rolling smooth and true.
No complaints about the course, it was great. The staff is always friendly, however maybe a ranger would have helped, as it was over 5 hours to play.....busy Sunday afternoon but waiting approx. 5 minutes on each hole made for a long day...5 minutes x 18 holes = an extra hour and a half onto the round. It was a great deal price wise and will definitely return. THANKS!
great greens
the course was in great shape. the price was very fair. fast greens and fairways are in great shape
Short front 9 , back is more my style I course....
Pace is slow after leagues but pro shop said they'd try to get us out after I informed them of the confirmed golf now time . The ranger sat on evey hole we played and as we were the last group out there.......Just distracting.....
Back nine a little less appealing but overall good challenge
Nice course to play and good value for money. The best part for me was the par 3s; three of the four are 190 or longer from the blue tees making them quite a challenge. Two have elevation changes from tee to the green which introduce additional challenges for club selection. The remaining par 3 is a medium length, with an elevated green and huge bunkers protecting the green; making the tee shot tough. I enjoyed the challenge.
Nice course and great value.
The course is in good shape, greens were irrated resently but are not bad, fairways and tee boxes are very good. Great price for the quality of the course.
Great Course. Best Value
One of my favorite tracks. Very very easy course. Im a 10 handicap and I look to shoot in the 70s every time here. Great place to score well
Nice course. Hilly, cart a must.
Nice maintain course with some interesting holes. Wish it had a little more water hazard.
Would be nice to have a beverage cart.
Very hilly terrain. Greens needed to be cut. Carts are outdated. I wouldn't pay more than $45 to play here.
Everything about this course is great
Awesome greens, tee boxes in good shape. I highly recommend this course. Will play again
nice course
Nice course for the price. Greens and fairways were in good playable conditions.
Difficult but nice course
Course was in excellent shape--the pace of play was terrible--needed a ranger to move one very slow 3SOME along and all would have been ok---restaurant was good--will come back to play especially at he prices we got from golfnow.com. Hope to see more specials like this for other courses.
the course was challenging /great for a fast $20
need to find my balls sometime later /need to cut the grass
Good layout, great greens
I've played Portland GC many many times over the years and I've enjoyed the majority of those outings. With the exception of when the greens have been punched they are always in top notch condition for amateurs (not extremely fast, with true reads). However, if you're looking for a "driver on every hole" type course, this is not the place for you. The pro tees are the only option for long hitters and set the course up with a much more challenging layout. All in all a great value and the course is always well maintained.
