Many fairways at Portland plunge downward on their way to their greens. The first certainly exemplifies this, making for a tricky approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/25/2023

The 10th: Short par-4 that can be driven, but that’s a hard risk-reward proposition given what lies behind the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

A commanding hole in the form of a Switchback, twelve is also aesthetically impressive. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Sixteen:one of the inward half’s two excellent par-5s; its green is fortified by a pair of yawning bunkers. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Always in good shape!!!!!
Great condition......Worth the drive from anywhere in CT.....
Some fun holes, get to use all your clubs.
Person checking us in at Proshop pretty unfriendly. It was like we were an annoyance. Starter/ranger had zero personality.
NEEDS HELP
HILLY BUT PLAYABLE. USED TO BE A FAVORITE TRACK,BUT CONDITIONS WERE EXTREMELY POOR (LOTS OF HARDPAN AND BEAT-UP FAIRWAYS). WE PLAYED A DAY AFTER THEY PLUGGED EVERY APPROACH AND FRINGE AREA AND WERE OFFERED NO DISCOUNT. VERY DISAPPOINTING PLAYING CONDITIONS.
Enjoyed the entire experience
Check in was a snap. I was alone but was teamed up with a wonderful gentleman who was my age. We had a blast. We have arranged to play Portland together in the future.
Nice course and good value
Played this course for the 1st time as a last minute decision . Course is in pretty good shape and greens are in good shape. This is not a long course but you need to play good placement golf. Really good value .Would play again and the staff was really friendly and helped you from the time you arrived to the 1st tee.
Great course... great price..
I live 20 min. Away.. This course is 1 of my favorite courses in Central CT... and probably in my top two if you consider price.. try it out...
Good condition, as in every time I have played here.
The course was in very good shape. I have played here a few times this year and it is always well maintained. There are a few blind shots on the front and back, it pays to take a look at the hole before you hit. Quite a few holes where being right or left is very unforgiving. A great challenge and very well worth the visit.
Different elevations, tees and greens. Very challenging layout.
The staff was excellent. I would return, fall would be great with foliage.
Nice Golf Course
Played this for the first time recently and enjoyed it. Nice layout, decent rates and well maintained. I would play it again.
Actually needs some more distance on several par 4's.
Many of the par 4's are around 300 yards and there is not great opportunity for long irons or fairway woods. Otherwise I like the course a lot.
Nice course to play
First time playing this course, so we weren't familiar with the lay of the land. The score card did have sketches of every hole with yardage. Some holes had quite a few blind shots to guess at if you were not familiar with the course. A very warm day when we played.Cold water was plentiful along the way, however didn't notice a refreshment wagon cruising the course. Will give this course a thumbs up, and will put it on the list to play again.
Nice outing
The course was in pretty good shape, however a few areas on the course were burnt up. The course could also use signs to indicate where the cart should be driven around greens in the direction of the next tee box. Overall the outing was very nice for the Golfnow price.
Great course in excellent condition
Not a difficult course like the one we played a couple days before in sweltering weather (Blackstone National) but a number of challenging holes.
We liked the course length.....very comparable with our style of play. Played here before and will return to play again.
J
Course is in great shape.
I would definitely play this course again. Great bargain, friendly staff, Challenging holes.
Wonderful
The course is in wonderful shape. Greens and fairways are great. love the faster greens, very nice condition. It is a shorter, quircky course but is in great shape.
forgiving for the novice and challenging for the intermediate as well as the advanced
This course is in fantastic shape all the way from the tee box to the greens. At the Pro Shop the staff go out of their way to serve you. All I can say is if you want an enjoyable day of golf. Try out Portland Golf Course. In fact I enjoyed myself so much that I'm playing there next Tuesday.
Challenging pretty, yet very tight course.
We got the $30 per person 18 and cart early bird special. We were paired up with 2 friendly locals that were very helpful on explaining where to "try" to hit the ball on many of the blind shots. The only thing that was disappointing was the foursome in front of us was a bit slow, wasting quite a bit of time meandering around in front of us, on a very hot humid day. On a couple of holes on the back 9, I hacked it up badly and took some time, and was surprised we still had to wait for them on every tee. Probably could have played in 3.5 hours in stead of over 4 hours.
If there was a Marshal out there to speed them up, I would give a 5 star rating. But I realize it was the middle of the week, and you cant have Marshals out all the time.
