Many fairways at Portland plunge downward on their way to their greens. The first certainly exemplifies this, making for a tricky approach shot. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/25/2023

The 10th: Short par-4 that can be driven, but that’s a hard risk-reward proposition given what lies behind the green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

A commanding hole in the form of a Switchback, twelve is also aesthetically impressive. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/21/2022

Well worth the money
Course was in great condition, staff very friendly and helpful. Played this course years ago, in much better shape this go around.
Very comfortable for the casual golfer.
Casual atmosphere and helpful staff provided a no-pressure round of golf in a very attractive setting.
Tale of two nines
Front nine played at a good pace. Back nine had several dog-leg blind holes that slowed play dramatically.
Nice condition, beautiful setting, friendly staff.
There are a lot of golfers who like this course because it does not require you to hit it long if you play it from the white tees. Playing from the blue tee's is quite the challenge even for long hitters. There are so many "quirky" holes on this course that require precision shots it's mind boggling. There are at least three holes that require you to "miss" large trees in the middle of the fairway. There are back to back holes that are drive-able par 4's. There are numerous doglegs that require less than driver off the tee including the toughest hole on the back. The best hole is the par 5 16th which can be reached in two but requires a perfect drive and long iron/hybrid in. This place will make you a better golfer if you play it for what it is and don't pay too much for it. Embrace the quirky-ness.
Portland Golf Course
Very nice course. I throughly enjoyed the layout and course condition. I did get this as a hot deal. Not sure I'd pay then $54 full rate to play here but it was very nice. I'd recommend it to anyone at any skill level.
Excellent course
Course in excellent shape. It may be a little short in length for some but accuracy is the key. You do not need a driver if you are a long hitter. Greens were quick and true. Bunkers were in great shape. Only drawback is that there are a lot of shots off the tee box were you cannot see were the group in front of you is. They have a bell on #1 which did not help anyway because the group behind us hit it over our heads. After that when not able to see, our group and there group drove up to see were the group in front was.
Good course
All good. Had a good round but greens are too slow.
Tees and Greens
The course was in great shape. Tee boxes great and greens were consistent. Many greens were hidden when hitting off the tee. Being familiar with course was a benefit . Will be back to play there again.
Great place to play golf
Had a excellent time playing golf, the staff were very friendly and the course was in great shape.
Good course
This was a good course. The front nine had a lot of blind shots, back nine was much more open. The greens were aerated within the past week, which made our putts go unpredictably.
Lush fairways. Good condition considering the lack of rain
Enjoyed the course. Much better challenge from back tees. Too short (5,700) from white and yellow markers. Good number from blues. Greens were a little inconsistent front to back but overall enjoyable experience.
Rare kid free afternoon
Course was in very good condition. Pace of play moved very well for a weekend. Normally I only play mid week because I do not like pack golf courses on the weekend. My only complaint would be while the greens were in great condition they were very slow.
Early in the season
After a tough winter, this course was in real good condition in comparison to others in the area.
Very interesting layout and fun to play
Pace of play was a little slow.. but it was Sunday
I did not use the 19th hole
Pin placement and quick greens
PGC was in great shape. Greens we're fastest in the area for April. Pin placement is questionable.
slow play & no ranger in sight.
Course was in beautiful shape. Employees were very nice. Weather was beautiful. Mabe a few to many leaves.
Portland is a great course!
Portland is a really nice course well kept greens are perfect. It's great for the average golfer with some challenging holes. Carts have GPS so no need for your smartphone or any other gps device.
Excellent fall golf even in the rain
Played as a single in the rain. Course was in great shape. Challenging hole placements. Not too long even from back tees. Played 18 holes in 2.5 hours. Will definitely play again! Only complaint is low powered golf cart couldn't get up some hills in the slick conditions.
Nice course
After playing for the first time about a month ago, I now play there weekly. Great value. Course was in great shape considering the lack of rain in the area.
Course need ranger to monitor the pace of the game
takes almost 7 hours to play 18th hole no ranger to monitoring the pace of the game. Not recommend this course.
