About
Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club (formerly known as The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford) is one of the most affordable rounds in the area and it has received praise as one of the best golf courses in Connecticut. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for beginners but low handicappers will also find it to be a fun round. The holes are fairly straightforward though there are some fairways that have very narrow landing areas that will test the accuracy of even the best golfers. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed along the undulating greens and water also comes into play on the occasional hole. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging on the back nine. The most memorable hole on the golf course, the par-3 12th, is a water hole that features an intimidating island green.

Love this course. Very good condition, and usually fast pace.
Also a great restaurant on site but nothing is available until after 11am .
Great day without water...
All went well for the 2 of us playing 18 holes on a 9:30 am tee time. Only minor issue was the empty water jugs all throughout the course. We had our own water and could buy water if we wanted - but why "fool" golfers with empty water station after empty water station - ?
Good condition and few challenging holes. Very enjoyable round
Very bad design.
Very slow pace of play. The course is very poorly designed and plays more like a par 3 course with many island fairways. Some holes have fairways that are exceedingly narrow (15 yards wide) and are flanked on both sides by lateral hazards or out of bounds areas.
Challenging course
I found the layout to this course quite challenging due to its elevation differences, doglegs and some narrow fairways in the valley. The island green is nice. Overall an enjoyable but challenging course.
Had to cancel
Ended up breaking a finger day before the round, tried to cancel but was not allowed to, was hoping to at least get a Golf Now credit, but did not seem to be able to cancel.
Dining
Waitress in the morning asked us to leave the outside dining area when there was no one else there and we were waiting for our tee time. Very rude.
Stopped for drinks after the round and the waitress didn’t know the difference between an Arnold Palmer and a John Daly. Asked her to bring out sugar and she forgot about us.
Someone needs to come in and retrain the staff.

Snagged a deal time for my foursome. They were really impressed with the value and course conditions. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were in excellent condition. Would highly recommend using TEEOFF for exceptional deals 👏.
Extremely professional staff & super layout
I have begun golfing at Tradition over the past 6 weeks. The ease of reservation, the pleasant staff, courteous starter and their restaurant bartender and menu make this course one of the most outstanding courses in Connecticut.
Recently I was rehabbing from a severe hamstring injury. I decided to see if I could golf. The staff at Tradition was so concerned that they allowed me handicap status on cart placement.
The entire experience at Wheeler Tradition has been super. I have told many and about 10 of my friends tried it and all agreed. We now golf there twice a week with these friends. Super.
Traditions of Wallingford
Good experience every time! Good staff, well kept, appropriate speed of play. We play here fairly often and it doesn't disappoint.
