Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club
About
Wheeler Family Traditions Golf Club (formerly known as The Tradition Golf Club at Wallingford) is one of the most affordable rounds in the area and it has received praise as one of the best golf courses in Connecticut. The par-70 layout is player friendly enough for beginners but low handicappers will also find it to be a fun round. The holes are fairly straightforward though there are some fairways that have very narrow landing areas that will test the accuracy of even the best golfers. Numerous bunkers are strategically placed along the undulating greens and water also comes into play on the occasional hole. The golf course starts out gently but becomes progressively more challenging on the back nine. The most memorable hole on the golf course, the par-3 12th, is a water hole that features an intimidating island green.

Third: Excellent short par-3, including this rolling and tricky green. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 08/19/2020

Great Place to Play
Great place to play I liked some of the Elevation Changes that make it Challenging.. Loved the Island Green
Challenging
Love this course is challenging but beautiful. I enjoyed every round that I played. Staff is great.
Fairways
Yikes, the fairways and greens are not in good shape. It looks like the course might have a fungus in some fairways. I realize it hasn’t rained much but there is a couple of water sources on the course.
It’s expensive for what you get. I also don’t like paying for something before I get to the course.
4 years later
It had been 4 years since I've played this track, and after the first 5 holes and the non-courteous players that swarm this G.C., I remembered why it had taken so long to return. Not certain I will return again, no Ranger on a Saturday golf day, no cart person. Pace of play was ridiculous even for the weekend. I'll leave the conditions of the course alone due to very unusual weather for the time of year. Any attraction to this course going forward will strictly be on a friend asking me to join them. Not because i would want to play it again.
Dog track - don’t play!
Awful course, awful conditions, awful pace of play
First hole in one at Wheelers Family Traditions!
Got my first ace on the 8th hole par 3 with my nine iron from 119 yards. Great course, the carts have a great electronic scorecard and gps system and a super friendly staff and the cart girl was around a lot which is great on a very hot day. Go play it!
DON"T GO!!!
This place is a dump. Shirtless guy chatting with the ranger on the 2nd tee, pace of play was awful and the ranger did not help improve the pace of play, "blaming" it on the numbers of players on the course (too many), each green had dozens of unrepaired ball marks, players were spraying balls onto other fairways (no "FORE" shouts), fairways were not good (even with all the rain we've had), tons of unfilled divots in the fairway,
