very nice track
Greens fast but fair. Fairways in good condition. Helps to have course knowledge. Staff was very friendly. Overall a great time.
One of my favorites
I started playing this course in the late 80s and have always liked it. I just wish they hadn't caved in to the whiners and left the fescue mounds alone.
Odd Combination, but it works
Course is in beautiful shape, though you won't find much shade. The course rewards long drives and very accurate approach shots. Par threes are set up quite long. Not a lot of hills or trees - and I wouldn't call it links style either - but a fun course to play. Seems to move pretty quickly early on weekends.
Nice Link-Style Challenge
The Golf Club of Illinois (GCI) is a nice, challenging layout, presenting both easy scoring opportunities and shots requiring players to weigh their options carefully. The course was in great shape for my round, with the fairways tightly mowed and the greens at 10-11. I recommend GCI as a "should play" option for discerning golfers who looking for a fair test.
Good course
Took my pops out to play on Sunday morning. We played from the blue tee. It wasn't crowded at all, and pace was fast, which I liked. Nice fairways but hit it a bit off into the rough, you'll lose your ball. It's a long and tough course. Trees don't really come into play but there's plenty of other hazards. It's a challenging course but really fun. The greens were ok. I would definitely come back at least to challenge #11 again. 675 yards from the back tee! Wow...
Course is in great shape
Its a long drive from Chicago but its worth the trip. Course offers fast greens that are in great shape. Course is very challenging but it plays fair.
Wide open and in great shape
Shot a round based off a friend's suggestion. Very nice all around. Course in great shape and friendly/helpful staff. Reasonably priced. Definitely be back
Good links-style course
GCI has a traditional links layout with tight fairways bordered with overgrown fescue, few wooded areas and fast, undulating greens. Few par 5s (3) but several long par 4s (11) that are not driveable. Clubhouse is dated but serviceable.
Nice course
I like this course. Some holes are link style and difficult. Well worth the money.
Good condition. Seniors Wednesday Rates.
Course in good shape.
Played quickly as solo.
Some traps needed raking.
Seniors 55+ play Wednesdays thru August for $25 w/cart. Call them.
Very challenging
Great course if your looking for a challenge. Small fairways and greens. Had a blast
Challaging
I made a last minute tee time. Course was not busy and the pace of play was very good. Course was in good condition, weather was good. Course would probably get more play if price point was lower but overall, it was a good experience.
GCI
Good course little slow with no ranger to speed things up
Better than expected
After extensive rains the night before, the grounds crew was hard at work removing standing water in areas most affected. All things considered, the course was not sloppy and played well. The care and attention to the playing surface was excellent given the aforementioned weather. I would play this course again.
Beautiful day at GCI
Having been a fan of GCI for many years, it was a pleasure to take on this demanding track. Links style, target oriented design. Plenty of bunkers and fescue to keep you on your toes. The course is in great shape, except for some of the bunkers.
We had a great time, and will be back.
Cource condition
In tee grand, there are too many dipot.
Gureen is not good, someherew bear.
Great time as always
Friendly staff and beautiful course on a perfect afternoon.
Link style
Tough course, but they have made it easier, as the tall stuff is not so tall, however the rough is hard to chop out of. Hitting it on the fairways are a premium at this course.
Good course
I always enjoy playing there. Some great challenging hole. Par 3 over 200 yds over the water with strong wind. Par 5 over 600 yds with up hill plus strong wind all the time. great course. I truly recommend this course with my heart. Just go and play and see. Every one love this course. This course for some advanced player.
course has great features
links style course made it pleasant to play, not having to deal with leaves.
