Reviews
Unplayable
Delcastle has never been a "nice" course. Always a value play. Unfortunately, the course has devolved into an abomination. Many of the greens have large swaths of dirt where grass once grew, the worst of which on 5, 6, 7, 8 and 11. Putting is a nightmare. Tee boxes are ratty and weed ridden. Price should be <$15.
Holiday Weekend
Last minute booking on Labor Day. Expected it to be busy but not as bad as I thought. I enjoyed the round and will definitely go again.
We are happy to hear that you were able to get out on Labor Day and enjoyed your round! Hope to see you on the course soon.
Thanks for rating Value and Staff as Excellent! We truly appreciate it!

nice layout and favorable conditions = a fine round !
Played Delcastle a year or 2 ago and had not returned with all the other area options......I enjoyed my Saturday (8/5) round so much I returned on 8/6 to experience more. Arrived both days as a single and was paired with good partners.....the starter was extremely accommodating and actually sent us out 20m early on 8/6. Check in was a breeze and Pro shop staff receptive. Now the course ..... previous memories of fall leaves ~ lots of geese and their droppings~and overall unfavorable conditions was a thing of the past. Tee's , fairways , greens were all good with only a few areas with issues (like any other course around except Glen Mills and Bulle Rock) The variety from hole to hole was refreshing and the pace of play was monitored and acceptable. These guys want you to enjoy your round . Probably only dissatisfaction was both days I tee'd off around noon and only saw the beverage cart once each day. This course is well worth the rack rate and if you can get a deal on golfnow or teeoff.com it's value added. Didn't hit the bar / grille but it was busy if that matters.....

Nice course but slow play
The course is in very nice condition. Nice layout, not overly challenging for an experienced golfer. Starter was very friendly and since it was my first time playing there, he spent a few minutes describing the course to me. Nice guy! The only problem was the pace of play...it took over 6 hours to play 18 holes! Awful! The groups ahead of me just played slower and slower as the round went on. There was no on-course "ranger" to do anything about it either. I read other reviews that complained about slow play too. I mean, 6 + hours to play 18 holes of golf...come on, the course ain't that hard!
Thank you for your comments! We truly appreciate them. I am going to assume that you played this past Sunday. After all the rain the previous days, it seemed like everyone in Delaware and beyond wanted to play golf on Sunday. The team tried to accommodate everyone that wanted to play that day, even those without tee times, but that caused extremely slow play. Normally, golf at Delcastle takes around 4 hours during the week and closer to 5 on busy weekend days. For those that like to play fast, we recommend playing before 9am on the weekends or after 3pm.
Thanks again for your comments and we hope to see you again in the future!
Good old Delcastle
It's was a normal day. It was busy so the pace was slow. Played over 5 hours because of the wait. Once we got to the back 9 pace increased as we went past people in the club house.
Thank you for your comments and rating! Glad to see the back 9 played faster than the front.
Hope to see you again soon!
Great value for the price
The pace of play was a little slow, but that was because you see so many different types of golfers. This course is easy enough to make it enjoyable, but tough enough to require many different shots.
Thank you for your comments! Yes, we like to think of Delcastle as the melting pot of golfers because, as you perfectly stated, the course can play as easy or hard as you want it.
Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!
Nice laid back course!
This course was fun to play. Nothing really memorable or outstanding, just a good course with a good pace of play and friendly people. Will probably play the course again even though we live in the Baltimore area. Hey guys, get some logo balls!
Thank you for your comments and for travelling all the way from Baltimore to play Delcastle! The demand for logo balls greatly decreased for a few years but seems to be picking up. If/when we get an order we'll make sure to add a comment to this post. Just give us a call at 302.998.9505 x 4 and we'll mail you a free one.
Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!
Cancellation policy
This review is more about cancellation policy than it is the course. The course is fine for a public golf course. I called at 7:45am this morning to cancel a 7:30am tee time for a foursome tomorrow morning because it is probably going to rain and was told I had to be put on hold so the desk clerk could ask the pro if they were going to charge my card for a foursome since my call was inside the 24 hour grace period. Really? This is a Billy Casper ran golf course and someone within the organization needs to revisit that policy. They don't have to worry about me, I am done with them.
Thank you for your comments! We would never charge a cancellation fee due to weather. A cancellation policy has become standard practice among many courses and businesses. Sorry that you don't agree with it.
Happy Golfing!
Ok course
Overpriced at regular rate and usually a 4 1/2 to 5 hour round with no rangers to speed it up.
Cold day of golf at Delcastle
Golfed with my son, who is new to golf, and visitor from New Zealand. Very cold day but not many people on the course which was nice. Some greens in pretty rough shape and lots of downed tree limbs from recent storm that should have been removed 1 week ago. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
early in the season
reasonable course cost wise, many down tree branches, needs some work
Great place to play
I love this course because it's as easy or as hard as you make it. It's in great shape, very forgiving when the driver gets a little wild and the greens are pretty good for February.
Thank you for the comments! Hope to see you again at Delcastle in 2017!
Delcastle in Good condition
Played on Dec 13 2016 and course was in good condition. Great value for the area
Thank you for your comments! Hope to see you at Delcastle in 2017!
Longest round ever
It took us 3 hours to play the front nine bc a group in front of us had 2 carts for 3 guys and a girl not playing, 3 people playing with 2 sets with both sets on one cart, we called the clubhouse for a ranger and he did not do anything until the turn. We left after 14 holes and 4.5 hours because we did not sign up for a 6 Monday round. Coursw isn't bad, some decent greens while others we littered with crab grass. Good value but the bunching made for a long day. They need to space out tee times and have a ranger to help pace of play.

Oh, Jeff Scott. As we said in your posts on our FB page, it sounds like Delcastle isn't for you. As most can see, your comments do not mirror the actual conditions of Delcastle and we hope that you find a course that better suits your expectations. Happy golfing!
