About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Great Course!
Really enjoyed Deerfield Golf Club. Beautiful course, great conditions, and a fun, challenging layout. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely one of the better courses in the area. I’ll be back!
Deerfield
A true test. Bring your shot making skills. Be prepared to hit some blind shots.
Deerfield
course was in great shape considering the amount of rain...it was cart path only but still finished in 4 hours...staff was friendly and helpful cart girl was always near! great service deerfield!~
Cart path only .
Played course many times. Today was cart path only. Should not have been. My opinion. Tee time was 11:40 and was dryed . Should have at least lifted on back nine.
Senior and ladies tee were the same. Too unfriendly for woman who does not hit ball very long. Wife i would not take back here
Seniors who had to stay on cart part one could not finish 9. Other than that I will still play as a hilly and challenging course.l
Deerfield
Course overall was in good shape. Greens were inconsistent and somewhat hairy. Area did have some recent rain but by history the course has drained well. It was cart path only but probably didn’t need to be but understandable given that people are not responsible sometimes. Started at a foursome and then split to two twosomes given the people we were playing with being somewhat slow. We passed one group and generally pace was slow but we ended up finishing 4 holes ahead of the original 2 we were paired with. Staff was great as usual and saw a lot of work activity on the course. All in all no complaints.
Worth the drive
Showed up early, was greeted by a friendly staff. Course was in great shape and pace of play was awesome!!
Never on flat ground
This very hilly course is a great challenge to golfers of all caliber. If you go to the range and kill it, this course will challenge you with shots from uphill, downhill and sideways. It’s not just your stance that is challenging, the fairways tilt and dip turning what initially appeared to be a good shot rolling off the fairway.
The hillyness doesn’t end on the fairways, it makes its way to the greens which coupled with the speed, makes greens hard stick and putts even harder.
Tricked out roller coaster
Really poor piece of property to build a golf course. Extreme ups and downs like a roller coaster. Unwalkable and very difficult to find a flat lie. Good shots are penalized. Unfortunate because the course is in terrific shape. I won’t be coming back.
Good condition, extremely hilly
Course is in very nice condition but you won't have a flat lie all day. Course Is not walkable due to hills. It's a pretty short course too even from the blues. I hit drives in the mid 250s and many holes were driver then wedge.
Delaware Native first time playing Deerfield
I had an amazing time playing this course! The weather was perfect, and the three guys I was paired with were great company, which made the round even more enjoyable.
The course itself is challenging, to say the least, but it’s in outstanding condition and an absolute blast to play. Every hole keeps you engaged, and the layout rewards good shots while demanding accuracy.
I highly recommend this course to anyone looking for a fun and challenging round. That said, I wouldn’t suggest it for someone who is brand new to the game. You need to hit the ball well off the tee and keep it in play, or it can turn into a very long day.
Overall, I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to play it again!
