East at White Pines Golf Course

About
White Pines Golf Club is ideally situated for both locals and visitors with a convenient location that is just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and only 10 minutes from O'Hare International Airport. The club has two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The East is the shorter and more player friendly of the two at 6,371 yards from the back tees. The fairways are seemingly narrow but there is some room for recovery if you have an errant shot. There aren't as many bunkers or water as on the West Course, but there is enough to provide a fun round. In addition to 36 holes of golf, White Pines G.C. also offers the Golf Dome, one of the world's largest indoor golf facilities. It features five target greens surrounded by bunkers, 50 hitting tees on two levels, and six suspended hitting targets for practicing your accuracy.

Nice and good again.
Now good time to play golf.
Always good friends together,wonderful price.
Very good tasty Bratwurst and nicely fixed up cart path.
6 hour round
Played the West course on a Saturday. It took 6 hours the finish the round. Starting from hole 6 there were 3 groups waiting to tee off. Finally called the ranger while waiting to off on 9 and told them something needs to be done. Get to hole 10 and there’s 4 groups waiting to tee off. The ranger says there’s nothing they can do about it. As a ranger you should help keep the pace of play. Not only is the pace terrible but the conditions of the course is even worse. There are dandelions EVERYWHERE! On some holes if you hit it into the rough good luck finding your ball because there are so many white dandelions it’s impossible to find your ball. Greens are slow and tee boxes are not level. If you play here on a weekend expect a long round.
Not worth the money
It's hard to tell what is worth the money these days, although I don't feel like I got my money's worth. $77, weekend, with a cart.
Cart paths are far improved from when I played in mid-April. A black sealant was applied over rocks, so the old reviews about the cart paths are resolved.
Issues today included the following: #1 Weeds: It seemed like the course was not sprayed for weeds, especially rough, because the course was full of dandelions and clover. #2 Debris: It is understandable that there has been a lot of wind, but many fairways and tee boxes had not been blown off. It made finding balls difficult. #3 Rough: Take it or leave it, but the rough was pretty high. In combination with the weeds and debris, it made finding balls in the rough difficult.
#4 tee box on 17: The tee box directs you to tee off from a mat. I gave them a pass in April, as there hadn't been time to grow much, but now it's time they do something about it. #5 beverage cart: There was apparently a beverage cart out, but somehow we did not get a visit.
I understand that this is still public golf, but it seems like there were too many misses for a busy weekend. It didn't feel like the course lived up to the cost.
Fair Value
I paid $31 as a walking senior and felt I got my money’s worth wirh this course. Relatively wide open but still lost some balls in the fairway with all the maple tree “helicopters “ on tbe course. No water stations is my biggest complaint but snack driver came around 3 times 8-18
Awful course.
Just an awful course. They don’t cut the rough ever. The greens are the same on every hole. Just a circle that my 4 year old could draw. Pace of play is awful. 17th tee box doesn’t exist. They have $10 turf mats to hit off of. I can’t believe I wasted $80 dollars at this place.
West course
Great day. course in great shape. Pace was just right. Not waiting & not rushed. Right at 4 hours for 18.
Course was not in good shape. No work done on the sand traps. Greens were very slow yet firm. There are better values in the area.
West course
Fairways & greens in great condition. Pace was just right, not waiting, not rushed. Right at 4 hrs.
Place is getting bad
This was our home course every weekend until now. On a beautiful good Friday with every single tee time booked they had no cart girl and only one old lady serving the bar. Also the halfway house at the turn was not open. There's this elderly lady trying to serve dozens of people who want drinks and food at the turn. Complete disaster. Lastly the cart paths are crumbling all over the place. It's just not a good value anymore. Sorry we are going to have to frequent somewhere else.
Course needs attention
This used to be a favorite course. While the greens were great the rest of the course is beat up and in desperate need of repair. Many parts were soggy or flooded. The cart paths are falling apart with massive potholes everywhere. It was cart path only so the ride was bumpy to say the least. It's a shame because it's normally a fun course.
Wet course
It rained heavily the day before. Guess what, a lot of water on the course and cart path only. First time, I've played the West course. In early April, is easier to see the routing of both the East and West courses. Paid 20 on GolfNow.
Good condition golf course
Well maintained if you don’t care how cart path looks.
Nice layout with greens in nice shape, greens are a bit uninteresting and then wake you up with a surprise break here and there. Also would say a good value.
Good for opening in March
White Pines is one of a handful of courses that opened for the few days of unusually warm weather in March. Not surprisingly, most of it was very soft, resulting in mud on the ball and club. The greens were in better shape than expected. It was just fun to get out.
