Length 6371 yards
Slope 127
Rating 71.1

White Pines Golf Club is ideally situated for both locals and visitors with a convenient location that is just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago and only 10 minutes from O'Hare International Airport. The club has two 18-hole courses, the East and the West. The East is the shorter and more player friendly of the two at 6,371 yards from the back tees. The fairways are seemingly narrow but there is some room for recovery if you have an errant shot. There aren't as many bunkers or water as on the West Course, but there is enough to provide a fun round. In addition to 36 holes of golf, White Pines G.C. also offers the Golf Dome, one of the world's largest indoor golf facilities. It features five target greens surrounded by bunkers, 50 hitting tees on two levels, and six suspended hitting targets for practicing your accuracy.

Slow pace

We played early on the east course and was done in 3 hr 20 minutes. Then we ate lunch and replayed on the west course, brutally slow. It took us 4 hr 40 minutes.

Good value

There are 36 holes, but is usually very busy so rounds can be 4.5-5 hours, depending on your tee time. Course is convenient to get to & is in pretty good shape, with some challenging holes. All in all, a good value for your money.

Decent course for the price

Can be a little slow when behind a large group. Overall decent course, a lot of trees on the west course, good deals on the weekends.

Good basic course

Greens were not in great shape, but this course is very playable. Better weekdays since it gets pretty crowded on weekends.

Good value but some problems

I played here about 7 years ago and the first thing I noticed was overall improvements to the course. Last time I was here it was very beat up; tee boxes were chewed up, fairways dry and greens hard and bumpy. This time you could see the work put into the course, the the greens were still hard. Tee boxes and fairways were considerably better. Surrounding flora and landscape is much more appealing.

We played the East course (shorter of the 2 courses). Enough sand to challenge you around the greens allows to attack green with approach shots. Some bunkers had standing water in them and sand was in decent shape otherwise. Some narrow fairways, especially on back 9, challenge the tee shot.

We had a newer golfer with us so we were holding up a few twosomes at times, and the ranger came out to make his presence noticed, but politely did not say anything. We knew we were holding people up and let people play through. However, we allowed 3 twosomes to play through and when we finished had 2 other twosomes behind us. Why not just pair some of those twosomes up? Did not understand why they didn't do that. Beverage cart we only saw twice on the course....at hole 8 and then 18. Really?! She came by right before we hit the halfway house and then right when we are finishing our round. Maybe get another cart to hit up the course.

Overall, for the price and expectations, I was pleased and will be visiting this place again in the future.

Painfully slow.....

Our round took 5hrs 20min.......we were waiting on every hole. Even the cart girl was complaining how slow it was. The ranger did NOTHING to speed it up. The fairways were good, but the greens & tee boxes are beat up pretty bad. I will not return.

Absolute disaster

Golfed on a holiday so expected some delays but this was ridiculous. Took almost 6 hours to finish the east course, which is pretty short. The ranger came by every so often but was not controlling play at all. The couple groups in front of us were super slow; not playing ready golf, talking multiple "mulligans" and stopping for food and alcohol. I asked the ranger what the holdup was and he told us it was a group about 2 foursomes ahead of us that was a problem. I asked him to say something and he only said that they were African American...so what!?!? He's the ranger he should do his job. Would he have done something if they were a group of white, Hispanics or Asians? Absolutely ludicrous. They really need to control play better. Not enough bathrooms and water stations. It should NEVER take 6 hours to golf. It was one of the worst golf experiences I can remember. I will never go back and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Friday Group Outing

I decided on this course to take a few of my counter parts out to enjoy a great Friday afternoon on the greens. The players were from beginners to advance and everyone played well. The course will easy to shoot, yet enough still challenging to all.

White Pines

For $60 on a weekend I expect to play a course that is in great shape and pace of play is 4 hours. The course was beat up and the range was in even worse shape, you couldnt even hit on the grass. For a Park District I expected more out this as I have played it before and never saw it in this bad of shape.

Great bang for the buck

$20 bucks with a cart on a Friday evening, 73 degrees. Greens were very true. Nice to see after some courses in the area have snow burn from the winter. The Pines have definitely grown some. Better keep it straight off of the Tee if you want to score well. Fair amount of water. Cartpaths are laid out nicely. Very old school feeling to it. Holes are fairly well separated also.
