This course is good.
Great course. Greens need a little TLC but overall an easy course.
Taylors Creek on Fort Stewart Army Base
Considering the cost to play golf nowadays, I found this course to be a great value. The shop is small with small amounts of offerings but, all the basics with friendly, informative staff. Before this I did not have any idea about how the golf courses for the military operate. The biggest takeaway would be they are not supplemented by the government. With that being said, I will say again, it was a great value.
The range balls were better than 90% of public courses, if they even have a range. The course is dormant, it’s winter in the south where the bermuda grass takes a break from growing, so the tees and the fairways were just fine for the most part, based on the cost of the round. The over seeded greens made for a consistent surface to putt on and were nice.
The best way to describe this visit is.. well worth the money.
The grass…
It’s just not good.
Glad it was cheap, but won’t return.
Fairways grass
Need mowing a little more but satisfying course to play
Staff was very professional and helpful
If you haven't played Taylor's creek you're missing out..
good!!!
The staff is always friendly, and you can enjoy rounds in a quiet atmosphere.
Absolutely brutal
Was that a fairway? Am I on the tee box or in the rough? Nobody knows. Greens are like putting through a construction site. Beyond that, enjoy your brief 30 minute stop at the front gate of THE MILITARY BASE that this “public course” is located on. Do yourself a favor and just take the money you would’ve spent on a greens fee for this course and put it through a shredder. I can guarantee you will enjoy that more.
New Pro and friendly staff. Fun course.
Pros:
Katie was super nice and informative. The fairways rolled good. Greens had new growth. Course undergoing transition phase. Lots of effort by Maintenance Personnel was obvious. Shows signs of becoming a course this summer that any golfer would be happy to play.
Cons:
Fairway rough could be cut lower. Too easy to lose golf balls. Signage to next tee could be better. Glad I was playing with someone who knew the course. Love our military heroes. Will play again as time permits.

I was the asst pro at this course for 16 of my 24 months in the ARMY (67-68) It was built by the Corp of Engineers in 1961,and it was a par 73 back then. The course is in TERRIFIC condition and it has a 480 tree memorial planting, with commemorative plaques honoring veterans killed in the IRAQ war. Located on the FT STEWART ARMY BASE.it is available to the public.
Taylor Creek Golf Course/formerly Ft Stewart Golf course
While assigned to Ft Stewart 8/67-12/68 I had the pleasure to be PGA Pro Chuck Moore’s ASSISTANT. It was a pleasure to go back this week March 4, 2024, 56 years later and see its evolution. The course was in tremendous condition and anyone who enjoys golf, would find it to be well worth the trip. Great layout, Truely a challenge and reasonably priced.
