Course Management is inept
Reserved a tee time a Month before on the week of Thanksgiving to golf on my time off. I get to the course after an hour drive only to be told that the course is closed for a tournament. No notice on social media, no notice on their website to speak of. I wasted 2 hours of my time and did not get to play golf on the little bit of time I get off of work.
The pro shop "forgot to notify Golf Now"......
Mom & Pop Golf
Pine Needles is an old school, 9-hole course such as many small towns used to have but of which few are left. As such it's relatively short with tees close to greens. Many holes are up and down including some blind shots. Greens are small, most with strong slopes back to front. Course uses natural irrigation, so if it hasn't rained in a while it will be hard including the greens. Even so, there is significant rough in places. Key your eyes on your shots! Conditioning overall is marginal. Bird box posts bracketing the fairways at 150 and 100 yards are nostalgic, and helpful to mark some fairways.
Quaint clubhouse with friendly staff. No water or restrooms on the course. You can't beat the rates so set expectations and go for it. Would play this unique source again.

This course has come a long way in a very short time under New Management as of May 2024 the course has really stepped it up conditions are better the greens looked awesome the restaurant food and beer are priced reasonable cheapest place around membership rates are awesome no tee times required very friendly staff must try this course
