Golfer Reviews
not bad but could be alot better
Overall not too bad.I have played there a few times but there are a couple of problems as I see it.First there is no second cut in the fairways and the rough is quite heavy,a few times I missed the fairway be afoot or so and then it was almost impossible to reach the green. Also the bunkers are not good, they are very hard underneath with only alittle loose sand on top.Plus there was a leaque going out so we had to play the front 9 twice, and we did run into a couple of numbskulls out there but that can happen anywhere.
Great Course
Great course. Pace was a little slow. Great and friendly staff! Great value for the money.
A long round
Got an excellent deal on golf now. I figured they'd be slammed on a friday afternoon, and they were. Unfortunately, I was 2nd or 3rd tee time after an outing. Staff seemed confused as to how to get the non-outing players off the first tee. Also, toward end of round, the course decided to put children (lessons) on the course in front of our 4some. I love this course. It's one I've played for almost 20 years now. I just hope they manage the play time better.
minor problem
the course is good but the staff needs serious improvement when it comes to attitude.
Course
Everything was great. The only problem was the pace of play. We had a 4some ahead of us. They played sloooooow. Teeing up extra balls. The group ahead of them was two holes ahead. The ranger didn't say a word.
Bring a hammer
Enjoyed a round of golf with my buddy and another golfer that joined us. Course is in excellent condition except for the tee boxes. They are as hard as concrete. We could barely get our tees in the ground. I joked with my buddy, "Next time we play this course remind me to bring a hammer!". Get some water on those tee boxes! Otherwise, it was a great time.
Nice course, aweful clientele!
I really liked the holes I got to play. We could not finish the round. From what I have noticed some of the people that play here don't care about playing ready golf. It was busy but not that busy that after the four and a half hour mark we were only on the 13th hole. They have a sign posted in the club house stating that you must finish within 4 hours and 40 minutes but no one up holds that policy. Don't waste your time with this place unless you get the first tee time in the morning.
bad conditions
even using golf now I was very disappointed with Glenwoodie. value for the money. poor conditions and unwilling to change golf now time slot. All the t boxes and some fairways were way to hard. grass needed cutting
Good course
Good course. I enjoy the challenging greens ( very fast). Slightly slow play but not bad.
Great day with friends, almost broke 90!
Love this course, may be a little less challenging because of many trees cut down, but fast greens and rough a little high may be the equalizer! Water and sand on more than a few holes tighten up the bungus! Kitchen don't open til 9:00 and we had a 7:10 tee time but I've had their breakfast sandwich and it is excellent. I could play here at least once a week!
5/7 REVIEW
FOR THOSE WHO HAVE PLAYED GLENWOODIE AS LONG AS I HAVE (35 YEARS) OVER 100 TREES HAVE BEEN REMOVED. MAKES THE COURSE A LITTLE EASIER. GREENS OK HAVE BEEN BETTER. FAIRWAYS BEAT UP ESPECIALLY ON THE FRONT. ALOT OF WALKERS MADE THE COURESE PLAY SLOW.
glenwoodie
course has seen effects of winter as grass is dormet
in spots and greens though above average in speed looked awful. would have played faster if gentleman in front was not hitting a small bucket on every hole.
Green Conditions
The greens need improvement. They need to role and smooth the greens out there were a lot of holes and lumps in the greens. It was very difficult to put because of the lumps and holes. It was very frustrating putting on the greens.
Management should take better care of the greens and blow off debris during course time. There was to much debris on the greens. If management doesn't take better care of the greens I will not be going back to play and I will not recommend any friends to play at the course any more.
Thank you,
The course was in great shape after the harsh winter.
The course was in great shape and the greens were actually fast. Clubhouse is really nice. The downside was start times were delayed due to frost, and no one was there to let the early tee times know.
Good bang for the buck
Long par 4s. Terrain is hilly on some and flat on other holes. Pretty open overall. Pace of play was slowed by a foursome enjoying themselves. Course was in good shape. Greens are hilly and some holes were placed on hills in impossible locations. I'd go back. Maybe just nine next time.
Big letdown yesterday
This course has been one of my favorites I've played it at least 20 times. Get there 10 min early ready to go, only to be told they have an hour delay/ backup because of frost. Was told they called everyone. Staff was apologetic and gave us a couple free buckets of balls which I thought was fair. The pace was ridiculous. 5 hours and 25 minutes. Glenwoodie is a good test with large undulated greens and good length from the blue tees. They have cut down in my estimate 70-80 full grown trees that had Ashe disease to save the ones that didn't. More than a few trees were in strategic places. Just be aware the course has lost a lot of it's bite.
