Please Take Better Care Of This Gem
The land and the layout are beautiful to walk and a real test to play. Holes 10-13 might be the best three hole stretch in Illinois. I can’t understand why the owners don’t take better care of this course. Could be best public course in IL if they took better care of it. The tee boxes are embarrassing. The bunkers are very scratchy and inconsistent. The greens can be good or terrible.
Conditions decent, good customer service
Overall the course is pretty good. Conditions were decent, no areas of bad grass, teed and greens pretty good. Some bunkers had little to no sand in them. The clubhouse is beautiful, and it’s a Donald Ross design but is pretty conventional in layout. Range is too short to hit woods.
Comfortable play
Not terribly challenging yet a nice layout.. Landscapers were especially courteous and did a great job at clearing leaves during the autumn season. Well manicured course. Really enjoyed it.
Great design
First time playing here, course was in great condition, greens were rolling smooth, fairways could use some help in a couple of spots. But expected playing this time of year. Got stuck behind 2 foursomes and slowed pace down, otherwise would have been 4 hr round or less
It's a treat to play a Donald Ross design. Beautiful old course.
Hybrid Tees Not as Advertised
For some reason the grey hybrid tees were moved back on a number of holes making the course far too long for a senior golfer like me. The advertised length for the hybrid tees is much short then the actual length. For example, one of the par 3s was playing 220 yards!
Need to invest in course upkeep
This is a classic layout - for good and bad. Price point does not make sense for current course condition. Lots of bare spots, greens in relatively bad shape, and lots of crabgrass on tees. We understand that this WAS a private course, please don’t fall into the trap of resting on your reputation, put some of the $$ back into the course.
Great course
Course was in good condition even with all the heat. Staff was awesome and very friendly
Playing Ravisloe
Course was in excellent condition overall. If you like sand this is the place for you! Tees were ok, greens were fairly fast and the fairways and ruff were in good shape. Pace was alright but no rangers were spotted. 2 water stations and no cart girl.
