Fresh Meadows Golf Club & Range
Great course with a lot of fun holes. Challenging where it needs to be but great for golfers of any skill level. The greens were decent but could use some improvement. What stood out is how friendly the staff was out on the course and off. The golf range also had a lot to offer.; lessons from great instructors. Tony Gray improved my golf game immensely. Correcting my form and technique and having the ability to hit the ball straight and far- along with much needed help on my short game. I highly recommend Fresh Meadows Golf Club
December golf
Who doesn't love to play 18 holes in 3 hours? The course was clear of any leaves and the goose waste was minimal.
CAUTION - AERATED GREENS
I gave low score because I was very disappointed that Fresh Meadows and GolfNow did not indicate that 17 out of 18 greens were recently aerated. There should be a "A" on this tee time!!!

Extremely disappointed
I'm not one to make reviews however I was so disappointed at this course that I have to warn you guys. Expensive for that course. One of balls went to the rough exactly where they were mowing the lawn. The guy didn't even acknowledge me and kept going and destroyed my ball. Another hole the guy is fixing the putt hole, I'm yelling at him to move and he just looked at me and kept working. Another hole, the tee area was COMPLETELY DESTROYED!! A guy is mowing the lawn right on top of the tee. It was my turn to hit the ball and the guy would not move. Overall worst experience!! STAY AWAY
Great course
It was raining but the course was in great shape. The pace of play was a little slow but I was very pleased with the overall play.
No maintenance
The worst tee boxes I have ever seen. Have never seen so many dead trees. Greens slow and beat up. Weed laden fairways. Some greens had holes in them that were uncovered sprinklers. Severely needs care and attention. Now I understand why they had open $49 tee times on a Sunday morning. Won't be going back unless there is a management change. I thought this was Jemsek course at one time. They would be shocked to see it now.
Nice course. One fairways
Need to increase pace of play, but I would definitely play again
course is poor condition
I played this course in early spring and it was in decent shape considering it was the start of the season. What a difference since then. I understand if there are a few weeds on the course (I have a few in my yard too at times). But for the tee box to be completely covered in weeds instead of grass is just unacceptable. The fairways weren't any better either. And the amount of garbage on the course looked like it hadn't been cleaned or picked up in weeks. The greens were pretty hard and fast, which can be expected this time of year with all the sun we've been having. The staff was rude to say the least. When I was parking the cart after the round a gentleman yelled at me and my partner when we parked it next to the other cars. He yelled "that one still needs washed pull it over here!" pointing to a spot. So I moved it and he again yelled because I parked it in the wrong spot. Every other course I've played at, the person who moves the carts says something to the affect, "Thanks I'll get it from here have a good day." Not this old cranky man. Overall I'd say play somewhere else, there's nicer courses nearby for the same money. I really like a couple of 9 hole course close by. Meadowlark is fun and Downers Grove golf course is challenging.
Entertaining round
The pace of play on the first nine was slow. The course was nice, some of the tee boxes were beat up but they were playable. Staff was friendly and the food was good.
5 Hour Round on a Tuesday Morning?
-The clubhouse staff was terrific.
-The starter/ranger needs help.
-The course is in decent shape with the exception of the 17th green which had just been aerated.
-The concept of allowing a faster group to play through or having a ranger move slower groups along is non-existent on this course which led to a ridiculously long round (I've played this course in 3 hours in the past when it wasn't busy)
-The starter needs a young assistant as his vision is suspect. On the 2nd hole, he drove directly in front of me during my back swing. Perhaps that is not too egregious except for the fact that I chipping 5 yards off the green and he was driving the cart over the fringe and edge of the green. I have no idea why he was driving around since he didn't speed up the group in front of our group (20 minutes putting--I timed it) or encourage them to allow faster groups to play through.
-It is more or less a free-for-all with people hitting from random fairways
-I think this course would be very enjoyable if on-course management was improved
Great for beginners. Affordable and forgiving.
I've played this course numerous times. Mostly because of its proximity to my house. Fresh meadows is affordable and has very forgiving wide fairways. Minimal water hazards. Always enjoy playing here.
Room for improvement
Payed $25 to walk with a rusty pull cart on a weekday afternoon. Was warned that 2 junior groups were just getting off on their 9 hole rounds. Tee boxes in poor condition with either little grass or lots of crab grass. Fairways in decent shape. Some greens with brown patches and divots. Frustrating that their water coolers were empty since it was a sunny, humid 85 degree day. Has a nice (albeit slightly overpriced) range, putting, and chipping area. Would be willing to play more if some cosmetic improvements were made. A ranger would be very helpful.
my friday golf
Availability was good and the staff were accomodating. There was no ranger available to monitor the pace of play which would have improved the round. Some challenging holes and the greens were very fast. most wedge shots went thru the greens.
Waiting...
If you dont mind waiting, or slow play come out and play this course. Its a shame that a quick fix of putting a ranger out there to monitor play could correct the one issue I have with this place. Has a nice warm up range and ample putting, chipping areas, easy to get to, decent weekend pricing but just too long of waits on certain holes which then backs everyone up. Length not an issue here, challenging for ball striking but greens are pretty flat. Employ a ranger on week nights and weekends and Ill be back. Until then, always just a back up course for me and only if its a last minute opening to other places in the area.
Get what you pay for
Course is barely taken care of and packed due to the $25 dollar green fee. You get what you pay for. Very slow greens. It is worth $25 if you just want to get out and have a practice round. They barely ever cut their rough, makes it tough
Poor tee time management
When we checked in we had to wait for a cart because they didn't have any left. We had to wait at every shot for the group ahead of us because it would appear the club took advantage of the holiday weekend and overbooked the tee times. We ended up leaving after the 11th hole because we were already 4.5 hours in 2 groups back from teeing off on 12. Good price but extremely slow.
Course in Good Shape
We had a very nice outing. The course, at least the back nine, seems to have recovered from all the rain in June. Greens were soft and everything was very lush. Pace of play was very good with no waiting.
no bargain at any price
had to skip holes to keep from playing a 6+ hour round , old couple played slow and would not pair up with the two behind ,no ranger ,guy from pro shop came out at 15th hole said he was sorry ,so was i that i ever came back here !
Dog track
Fresh Meadows is on of those courses you play when nothing else is available and you just HAVE to play golf. The greens have unrepaired ball marks everywhere and putting on them is like putting on 70's shag carpet. The "bunkers" contain gravel, dirt, and some sand thrown in for good measure. But, I payed less than $40 on sat morning at 8 am booked at the last minute. Like I said, gives you a fix but keep your expectations low. I've had rounds there that were on pace to play 5+ hours but I left after 9 holes.
